You would need to find a compatible master cylinder that has sufficient pressure to operate w/o a booster. I'd get in contact with companies who offer strictly race system, do your homework and get it right. Obviously this is not an area where you want to take chances, no matter what. Central Coaster has done more research on C4 hydraulic brake systems than anyone else I'm aware of. He also has a phenomenal engineering background. I'm sure he'll see this at some point and offer his valuable input.

As far as basic function is concerned, all you should really have to do is figure out the applicable in and out brake lines and hook them together or just run new steel lines throughout that eliminate and bypass it. And that may not be a bad idea, given the age of your car. It sounds as if you're perhaps building a mainly track car?

Actually we discussed that a while ago. Not actually on TV, but DVDs or streamable vids. That very well could happen again....if there is a need for it. Quote: Yes, we did talk about that! DVDs or stream-able vids would be way-cool at some point. And I've definitely noticed the increase in speed from the old days. Now I have the explanation, new servers. As one who's never been known for patience and who also has a high speed connection, as well as a pretty good computer, it's a welcome change.

Great things are definitely happening here and it's only the beginning. IMO the administration has the proper and a very reasonable approach as to how to do things here. Many if not most of us already know them. And their experience both with the subject matter and forums is apparent. As Ben Franklin once said, "A wise man learns from the mistakes of others, but a fool must learn for himself." They are without a doubt not fools. Their open-mindedness and reception to input is without precedence in my experience with forums.
These cars are a passion with us, a hobby, a diversion, a release or whatever it is for you. But regardless, coming somewhere to be among like-minded people should be relaxing and fun. Does this place fill that bill? I think so.

Yes Tom. I've never added an H or X pipe to anything that the increase in torque and response was not readily apparent. Every dual system needs one or the other.

If you can get in touch with Steel Breeze over on that "other forum", he has a good bit of info on this. He PMed me some info on it once. He also is just one hell of a nice guy. Invite him over here while you're at it!

Good point. It would be more like a listing. Similar to the classifieds section at DC, which I like. It's very no-nonsense and streamlined. Exactly. I just looked at their classifieds over there to see what you meant. I guess I'd never checked them before. Hotrodders.com has classifieds set up like that too. Just the ads with no responses, as you'd have with a forum format. That's the way a review section should be set up, IMO. And ideally all reviews would be previewed by someone to maintain quality and keep out ones that were just mindless bashing of a company someone has a hard-on for or something.

There's nothing wrong with a little upgrading while you're replacing parts anyway. For instance, stock wires are fine for most folks but I still like my MSDs better. Stay with proven quality components and in some cases, as you say, you'll benefit from them even more later when more serious mods are done.

Mine actually had the bulbs removed when I bought the car. I put bulbs in there so I'd have the lights if I ever need them but I leave them unplugged. You should have a two wire weatherpack connector on each side near the bottom of the hood. If they're plugged up, check for power there and if you have it, likely the bulbs are simply burned out or gone. Since it's a closed light, I wouldn't install a higher wattage bulb just to get more light. Mine are actually fairly bright if viewed in darkness and I'd consider them adequate for a few quick checks, were you to need them in a pinch.

Since this is an area of the LTx engines that differs greatly from other SBCs, even those of us who were familiar with SBCs had a learning curve when it came time for some internal mods. I hope this helps. And since I'm doing it from memory, please feel free to correct or clarify and I'll make any needed changes.
First the electric water pump. It's popular for several reasons but for here I'm mentioning it because it's the only way you can added a true double roller timing set to your engine, if that's something you desire. This is because the factory water pump is run off of the cam gear by a smaller gear/drive. This doesn't allow the room under the timing cover for a double roller set-up. As a side note, can you install an EWP without going under the cover and eliminating the drive? Yes you can, but I don't recommend it. Without the mechanical pump at the other end of the drive to support it, I don't think it would be long until the drive seal in the front cover started leaking. Remove the drive and plug or weld up the hole. The early opti used in '92-'94 Vettes uses a different drive set-up than the later one. I'm not entirely sure if there's a double roller set-up made that works with it or not. I would definitely appreciate input from anyone who knows this. But for sure you can upgrade to the later opti and use the popular Cloyes 9-3145 timing set or similar. The later opti runs off of an extended dowel pin for the cam gear. On an early LT1 or other SBC this pin is only long enough to locate the cam gear properly to the cam. To use the later opti, this pin needs to protrude about .620" measured from the front of the cam (with the gear off). You'll also need the harness for the later opti which plugs into the engine harness under the right side fuel rail cover on the intake. You'll need to buy or make the vacuum harness the later opti utilizes to expel moisture. (This is one of the design improvements to the later design) You'll require the later style '94-'95 timing cover too. The '96 cover can also be used. Just plug the 3/4" hole for the crank sensor. It's also my understanding that on a '96 LT1 or LT4 that this sensor can be eliminated with a programming edit. Again this will be necessary if you want to use a double roller because you need to eliminate the trigger wheel for that sensor to make room for the DR crank gear.

This should be popular. I know there are quite a few C4 owners who also have C3s. And for the most part they are still affordable cars that can be bought and enjoyed by most anyone.

Happy New Year!! It is amazing how close knit this forum feels. I've had way too much champagne, so I am drunk enough to admit this. Some of you guys are my best friends. It is 2:54am and I had to check the forum before going to bed. My wife thinks I'm nuts. I had to see how things were going before going to bed. I have no questions, no problems, no nothing, other than my fingers are tripping over themselves. Happy as can be, no reason to be on here, i just wanted to see how it was going. Thanks for always being there guys, you are the best!!! Quote:

Some other automotive forums I visit have a product review section and they are not set up as just another sub-forum. Picture something more like the (currently non-functional) tech tips area on CF. Obviously it wouldn't be a place for just opinions but for those who have bought, installed and used a product to list it's pros and/or cons. Only a factual and well stated review would be allowed based on first hand experience concerning value, quality, installation, appearance if applicable, did the product deliver as promised, etc.
With the fortune I've spent on mods and upgrades, I could write reviews for a month!

Considering how slow it used to move, it's working fine for me lately. It got hung up a couple of times last evening when I tried to change pages but that happens anywhere occasionally. Within a little bit, it was fine again. Just keep up the good work and I know it'll only continue to improve.

You shouldn't have leak problems assuming you're using any of the quality headers made for LT1s. Your starter will be fine, you'll have no clearance problems with it. If you want some extra insurance you buy a heat shield for not much or make one like I did. And all of the LT1 headers are either coated or stainless. Both run fairly cool compared to painted steel headers.

If you can get a D44 from a 4+3 car, it'll have the 3.07 gears. PeteK can provide you with a list of the upgraded parts you'll need for the transmission.

It wasn't CF that educated me about my C4, it was the people there. And that's who they've turned their back on, so f' em. They're getting what they deserve now. It's their forum and they're welcome to run it as they see fit. But that doesn't mean I'm going to feel guilty at rejoicing as I see the continued influx of their talent pool coming over here.
On any good forum I expect to learn things every time I log in. But cars are my passion and so it should be fun too. CF used to be, it's not anymore. It's like being in a world of fundamentalist zealots where you must be careful of every thought, word or action. Otherwise, who knows what price may be exacted. I think if you'll notice that in spite of the fun, there's no shortage of good and constructive info being passed around here with the increased traffic. This place was going to make it anyway. The fact that the competition gave them a temporary boost is nice but CFG would have and will stand on it's own.
