I doubt all 4 are bad, but anything's possible. Sounds like all of the wiring isn't connected properly. In my opinion I'd drop the bose and put in a decent head unit and 4 speakers. You can do that around $300-350.

Tint and LT's/exhaust. Then I might get more aggressive once those are finished

:me2: What he said.

$10,000 for an 84 is a lot, especially if it's not a super clean low mileage one in mint condition.

You can find some great deals out there on newer models, which is what I would do if I could start over - find a nice LT1 with a little more juice.

Anywho, extra rainy and crappy today. Expressway on the way home was horrible, could barely see 50 feet ahead. That didn't stop people from driving like a-holes, of course. Oh well I just avoid them and keep going.

Wow - that is super clean. Very nice.

I talked to a guy at the gas station this morning who had a 71. The more I see the C3s, the more I appreciate them I kinda think my wife would like me to get one and sell the C4 just because she likes the way it looks better. I say why get rid of the C4, let's just have both

I can't help much on the SIR.

As far as the speakers, this is not meant to be insulting but are you sure you used the correct speaker wires? There are at least two sets in there based on the fact that you have the factory and the aftermarket. Did the wiring look the same behind the head unit and at the speaker hook-ups? A quick test to make sure your head unit is working properly would be to run some test speakers and wire directly off the head unit to test it out. If that's the case, either verify you are using the correct wires or run new ones.

Good luck!

Good Morning CG's!

Well, I am here to lead the charge into Tuesday

How is everyone doing so far? Not a whole lot going on here. Weather is supposed to be warm today, so that's a plus, but rain later tonight isn't making me happy.

Anyone get their stimulus check yet? I'm still waiting for mine, but it's direct deposit so I guess I'll get it soon? It'll be some "mad money" and maybe we'll blow a little.

Anything else new and exciting? Post up!

Hope everyone has a great day.

Unfortunately, yes.......lol.

Thanks for the advice. I was considering buying an LT1, but I've put a bunch of little work into this car in the last year, it's getting to be where most of the maintenance items are done. I don't really want to start over. I am also unsure about being able to sell the 89 for a decent price. Plus there is something about doing the work yourself. To add more to it, if I'd upgrade I'd want to go to a C5 convertible....just like the way they look.

Back on topic - I would prefer to spend up to $2000 on everything including exhaust. We'll see how that pans out.... :shaking:

Ok, here's the deal. I can work on motors, but I'm not too good at setting up the package. This is where you guys come in.

Here are my plans. Shortly, I intend to do long tubes with either a single high flow or dual exhaust...not sure yet. That will be first. Later this summer I'm considering an LT1 intake swap. Is it benefical to do a cam with this? Would I then need lifters and to change to 1.6 roller rockers? I am not too enthused about dropping a bunch of dough on heads, so wondering if these too are required for everything. Would I get much benefit from just the intake alone?

Suggestions are appreciated. Anyone with an LT1 intake please feel free to give your personal experiences....

Thanks!

Matthew

I was going to suggest the bearings, too.
Could be the voltage regulator on the rear?
I had my alternator rebuilt last year, but it was by an old school alternator/electrical shop (goo luck finding one of those nowadays!)
I would avoid the taiwan rebuilts from pep boys/murrays/autozone. Just my $.02.

Keep us posted with the results!

Are you asking if someone would put used oil into their engine?

Oil that is turned in for recycling is usually refined and used for industrial purposes like lubricating oil or burned for energy. It also takes less energy to refine used oil than to refine crude oil

Well good morning CG's!

Happy Friday to everyone!

How is everyone doing this morning? Should be a warm day here, but the news is calling for rain later.

Nothing on my plate today. I think I'm gonna clean up the basement a little. I'm back to work tonight, so my day is cut up a little due to my nap later.

An interesting article was online today about gas prices. Said the most expensive place for gas was $18.42 in Sierra Leone and the cheapest was 12 cents in Venezuala The article did note that this doesn't take into account fluctuations due to the value of currency, etc...

http://money.aol.com/news/articles/_a ... most/20080501105809990001

Interesting to say the least.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Matthew

ps Tommy - where did the new trivia tag come from? Did I miss trivia last night?

No, I don't have HIDs. I have the higher wattage fog lights and I have the H4(?) upgraded headlights with the plastic housings.

As far as the jumper, when I did the upgraded lights I had to cut and reground my fog lights because when they were on they grounded through the high beam and there was a faint glow in the dash. I am wondering if you can just do the same for yours and not worry about the "jumper" you are talking about. Something to look into.

I don't know exactly which model you have, but I scrolled through their website and your box size seems fine. If you have clipping the most common cause is that you have the radio too loud and your gain too high. Your amp probably isn't pushing enough power. Turn down the gain and set it properly and it shoult eliminate the clipping.

Matthew

edit - website - what do you have and what amp?

Good morning C-G's!

First day of May - woo-hoo. Weather is supposed to be nice today, around 70 and sunny. I think it's supposed to rain overnight, but I can deal with that.

What's on the agenda for today? My wife has already decided that we are going to take the vette out for a cruise, go to the store, and then get some ice cream. I couldn't argue with that logic

Before that I'm gonna hit the weights a little and I think there's a little laundry to be done. Wife can take care of that - just cause you're pregnant doesn't mean you can't do laundry

On the funny side of "news", Gary Coleman was on tv's Divorce Court. Why can't this guy just fade away and become a footnote somewhere? He always pops up on these reality shows. He looks like an idiot. He's 40 and she's 22. I guess when you're famous you don't care what kind of publicity it is.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Matthew

T-shirt is funny but true...but 22.75? Go to Steve & Barry's and they'll probably have an identical one for $7.00.

Tommy - great song. Used to sing it at karaoke all the time...haha.

Good luck -

I went through a long period trying to sell my motorcycle last year. I didn't get exactly what I wanted, but at the end the buyer left with a smile and I walked in the house with a fistful of cash. I'd say jump on it.

I would find a new shop. I wouldn't use a place that does houses just because the back window on the vette can be tricky. As far as not giving a receipt, I figure he's just covering his ass due to potential lawsuits. I've never had a problem, but every state and tinter are different.

My 89 idles between 600-700. When it's 700 it's happy, when it's 600 it's a little choppy. Personally I'd be ok with 800.

Sounds good!

Just don't get any of that styrofoam in the cylinder. I've heard it's bad to get stuff down there....

Is it the filter causing the flow restriction? Is it necessary? What if you removed that?

Just a thought. No help on different connections

My uncle lives in Avon. He's pretty big into the mustang club down there and shows his 95 gt convertible in the summer.
