The cluster on my 90 was blacked out. When I first started it I could look real hard and get a guage reading. I could have sworn I had about 3/4 of a tank. I was about 40 miles from home on my way to a cruise in driving on I95. She starts sputtering and kicking and losing power. F~(%........ The first thing I think is the engine just let go. I look at the bars on the lcd and I'm bone dry. Traffic speeding by, I'm on an incline facing uphill with nowhere to go.. Da da danah ........ A road ranger shows up and gives me about 3 gallons of gas. I thank him with a twenty and I'm on the road again. Pissed off the ol'lady because I sent her off to get a gas can and fuel. Called her on the cell and told her all is well. First time I ran out of gas in over 20 years. I'm sure glad it wasn't worse.

Gas smell after shut down. Injector failure? My 91 was doing that before it hydrolocked on me last December. Catch it early before it costs you. Fuel lines?
If it was Ron I'd say he had an open container of gas sitting in the back.

Man, Is it gorgeous out today or what? It's noon, just about 70 degrees, blue skies, light wind. Heaven. Somebody pinch me. Am I really alive? ............ 63 more days before I will own days like this ..........

Well the time has come for me to start thinking about heating the 91 in the cold months of December January and February. The heater core has been bypassed so it sounds like a good place to start. I haven't had heat since I bought it 2 years ago. That made driving it on those chilly mornings a bit uncomfortable. Since I've heard many say they would rather get stuck in the eye with an ice pick than change out the heater core, I've taken that time honored advice and gave it to the shop to have a go at it. Today I brought it in on a tow truck because the sucker didn't have any spark. It appears that the brown wire that goes to the MSD ignition box was just barely in it's coupler. Being there with intentions of dropping a few dollars anyway I told them to give the wiring a good once over, change the heater core and an get an oil change. The only dread I'm going to have with the heater core is paying the bill.

Any good heater core stories. I'm all ears?

It's better than being upside down on $350,000 home. The housing market will catch back up but not as fast as it went down. General forecast is about 10 years. Inflated appraisals are what started the problem along with crooked lending practices. Hang on and one day you'll even out. Sell it now and you'll take a loss.

Today is absolutely, positively gorgeous in South Florida. The low tonight is supposed to be in the high 50s with a high tomorrow of 72. I didn't have to turn on my A/C in the car this morning. Yesterdays autocross was the most fun I've had in a long time. I was a little on the devil may care style of driving at the track. A couple of near spins and one spin that took out the time clock. If I would have done that on the street I would have lost thousands. Autocross is fun. Next year some of you guys and gals have to try it. I still haven't hit the dragstrip yet. I'm a little self-conscious being a rookie at my age. That and I have to keep my 91 running long enough to make a track date. Maybe that's why people trailer them up and back. If it doesn't want to run you just bring it back home.

We took the German Corvettes for a spin. I took it literally. I was coming in hot into the deceleration area and applied the brakes a little to scrub some speed. Eeeuuuuuuurrrrrtttttt. Took out about a half dozen cones and the stop clock mechanism. Everybody lost a run because they had to run new cable and reset the timers. Can't say I wasn't trying though. I wiped out on my fastest run. I was getting sideways a little more than usual today. Finally got better times than my wife. At the end of the day they gave me an award. A mini-cone that said. I Beat My Wife Today October 26,2008. That's it for the PCA season. Kicks off again in January. February autocross is at Sebring out by turns 15/16. Only one Vette out there today. A C4. Turned in some pretty fast times. Top 10 for sure.

Maybe I should get one as an investment. Cover it, store it in a humidity and temperature controlled gagage, start it and roll the tires a little monthly, change the fluids annually and hold it for twenty years. I bet you I could sell it for at least $40,000.

Oh ya, You didn't have to lock your doors, the neighbors would be on the phone telling your mama if you were doing something bad. That wasn't the bad part. The bad part is when your daddy got home and had to hear mama whining about what the neighbor told them. "Wah" ............

The assasination of Franz Ferdinand was prolly because of his silly hat.

The weather here has been getting cooler too. We hit the low 70's just the other day. While many of you get ready to put the Vettes away, I look forward to taking them out. The 91 doesn't have heat so bringing it out in late Dec., Jan. and Feb becomes a pick and choose thing. I don't like freezing my ass off. I just love the Florida winter though.
