I didn't know Arron was married.

I got up so that's a good thing. Energy lagging a bit but I have to get rolling. A chore list waits for no man (or woman). Nothing much to chat about. No major issues to reval. Cool and nice out now but will get to sweating weather this afternoon.

With the quake in Syria/Turkey will California follow close behind?

Stock market is playing like a slot machine with me. LOL Odds are in favor of the house. My energy level could use a little bump. Going to Miami today with Sue to drop off some plants. Fun, fun, fun. I'll do a chore or two when I get back.

Just living a routine life right now (which is good). No surprises. Replaced the battery on the 91 Corvette Saturday. Fixing stuff and cleaning up is always on the agenda. Physically I don't feel any better or worse than I've felt over the past 45 years. Some days are better than others. Well, time to get my ass in gear. A hot shower, get dressed, apply sunscreen, and I'll be ready to take on the day.

Slow on the trigger. Was going to buy some HBI stock this morning since thay crashed hard yesterday but I sat back to watch what the stock did. Sadly my decision to err on the side of caution was a short term error. The stock shot up about .40 a share or over 6.00%. Oh well. Maybe I will listen to myself next time. LOL Anyway, playing the stock market is like playing the slots. Sometimes you win. Sometime you lose. Sometime you just watch the other players.

I'm happy for you that you were able to get a good rim job, Matt. Just got back from the oral surgeon. They called me yesterday and asked if I was available to do it today. They put in the post that will hold my permanent implant. It takes 4 months for it to heal and be ready for the new crown. That tooth is an expensive little sucker. The slider I have now is a pain so a permanent crown in the long run be worth the expense. I'm in a little pain so I don't think I'll be getting much done today. Just find some ways to keep distracted.

The nation loves pointing out the color/ethnicity of an individual today. I heard something about two black quarterbacks playing in the Super Bowl. Well actually, Mahomes is 1/2 caucasian. So I guess that will give me something to cheer about. One day I'm sure we will all live togather as one. That being when the world combusts into a massive cloud of cosmic dust.

Gonna clean up the cars and Suburban today methinks. Carry on my wayward sons (and daughter).

Back from vacation. They had some white stuff wash up on the beach the other day down in the Keys. A couple of milion dollars worth. Caught some nice fish. We fished 4 days during the week. 2 days were pretty rough, one was moderately rough and one day was perfect. Had back aches from the pretty rough days. White caps all around. Up and down, up and down. Still, we enjoyed our annual break in the Keys.

I might be able to squeeze it out at 26% with appropriate late fees and penalties. Based also on your inability to sue and your acceptance of binding arbitration in any dispute. Want me to send you the 36 page contract?

2022 was a kiler year in the market. Lots of people lost money. It's an averages game over a period of time or day trade if you like to gamble. I'm just tired of getting literally pennies on a savings account. Not C-8 money. More C-5 money. I have my checking, savings and investment account linked so I can pull from one and put it in the other. But I'm long term on the investments over a couple of years. My losses offset my gains but really it's only entertainment, like gambling. Something to try and offset some of the effects of inflation. I don't have the balls to risk big money. No way I'm going broke at this stage of the game. Money in the bank is still money in the bank, even though inflation takes a bite out of it. Mid 50's Chevys are like an investment. Right?

Woke up at 04:30 but I went to bed at 09:30 so I'll be OK. Had a delivery in the Keys again this morning. Woke up to the high 40's and is currently 75. Start the day with jean pants on andchange into jean shorts. That's how we do it in SoFlo. I was feeling like doing some investing today so I picked up some microchip tech stocks. I bought MU QCOM and AMAT. Holding off on NVDA as they already had a little run up. Wait for a dip in the action and then pick up a few shares. Can't make any money with it just sitting in the bank. I jumped in back in March 2019 and my overall return is over 20% but I had 3 companies beat the living shite out of me with losses of over 85%. So that 20+% ahead has already accounted for a couple of dismal investment failures. What is it they say: It's better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all. Or something like that. What I invested today was some of Sue's money I had sitting in savings. She said why haven't you invested it? And I told her she didn't want me to invest if there was a chance I could lose money. Had to get her to understand there is risk in stocks. No guts, no glory. Rule of thumb. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Ya, we still do late nights every now and again. Warming up with lows in the low 50's tonight. Changed the oil, filter, plugs and fuel filter in the riding lawnmower this morning. I love doing things that save us money. (We can use that someplace else. )

Dodged a weather bullet. Got down to 38 so we had a couple of degrees to sprare. Too close for comfort. I have heaters running in the nursery fish pond, tortoise pens and pig shelter. Turned on the irrigation at 04:00AM To avoid having to get up at 03:30 we stayed out at the casino till 03:00 AM then drove home. Sue came out ahead a lost a little but had some nice pots. Got 5 hours of broken sleep so my ass is dragging.

Goomoanin.

The weather is high on the list of importance for Florida farmers and nursery owners. Temps tonite will dip into the 30's. The potential for crop damage is high. Never something we care to deal with. We've lost as much as $130,000 to cold weather snaps in some years past. We have no crop insurance since it really isn't worth the paper it's written on to us. Past experience has demonstrated that after the deductible it's not worth us carrying it. So we will sit and hope we don't get a freeze. We'll crank on the irrigation pumps tonight around midnight and run them till 9 or 10 tomorrow morning. Today we started the day at 46* Fortunately we are dealing with the frost potential for only one night so the odds I think are in our favor. We shall see. A little further north in Florida they suffered crop losses during the snap at Christmas and potential is high for them for a repeat tonight. Citrus took a big hit for sure. Maybe I should consult The Farmers Almanac and see what they said about this winter.

Speaking of documents. I have 40+ years worth of accumulated documents I have to sort and prep for the burn pit. Damned sure aren't going to shred them. I'd burn out two or three for sure unless I bought a heavy duty commercial model. Sue is making the best of a bad situation. The Doc told her healing is going to take some time. I'm catching up on stuff like the annual USDA surveys for the business. It's as much fun as having a frosty probe shoved up your ass. Anything the government is involved tends to be a PITA. What happened to the Paperwork Reduction Act? Since I'm already half riled, how about the ridiculous continuation of complicating income tax returns. It should be as easy as "You made this. Pay that." Rigginfriggin sassafrasson shidilibop! Ya and furthermore. If I hear one more thing about Reparations I think my mind will blow a gasket. Guess I'm in a special kind of mood today.

Inch by inch the foot is getting her around the yard. No , really. She has some swelling and tenderness in one area. She's back at work in a limited capacity. She is not walking on the foot as she is trying to prevent complications. You know she can't sit still. Had the A/c guys in today and they found a leak in one of the copper pipes. Small leak but it was surounded by oil. Nothing that $1000.0 can't fix. 6 lbs of freon was lost since last April. I put off the repair till working in the roof would be tolerable. Hopefully that's the only leak in the system. I have a strange vibration that comes from the outside unit but of course it didn't do it while the tech were here. I had to orally replicate the sound but you know how that goes. Can't fix something till it's broke in many cases. I told the guy I would call him next time it acts up at 02:00 AM.

Power outage here because of a fire in the brush up the street. The Forestry Service came in with dozers to get it under control. Unfortunately for us they ran into a wodden power pole that resulted in the power company turning off the the juice. You never realize the silence that comes with a power outage till you go outside and not a sound was to be heard. After 7 hours I decided to power up the generator to get some power to the fish pond aerator and the refrigerator. As a bonus we had lights, fans and TV. The power was restored about 1 1/2 hours later. Good thing too. I put on the heaters on to the tortoise pens and the pot bellied pigs sleeping quarters. Supposed to dip to around 50 the even colder over the next few days. The tortoises are cold blooded and need some heat after it gets below 55. the pig can take it but we're just nice. I put two water heaters over in Sue's fish pond to take the edge off. if the water temp goes below 55 the cichlids drop like flies (or iguanas). Never a dull day.

Sounds like a major league there Marcus. Press, press, press. Hire the necessary club carrier if needed. Don't smoke in bed in the meantime.

Sue had her bandages changed today and her ankle is blown up but the other two incisions look good. She is not walking on the foot till she feels confident it won't blow out like the other side of her foot did in the last two foot surgeries. Took months to heal. She's back in the ofice today. She has to take it easy though. Me? I'm trying to book a two week Alaska cruise in April of 2024. First cruise of the seaon and an extended itinery they don't normally do in the regular season. Though two weeks around a casino can financially dangerous. Carnival is giving us each $1000 in freeplay, so that's enough to get us started. And the two balcony rooms are comped, free drinks anywhere on the ship, and the down payment of $200 is given back to us for onboard spending. Sounds like a good deal to me. All we would pay is the port charges and taxes plus the gratuities. Good thing we love cruising (and gambling).

After a short night's sleep on Friday night I went to bed last night at 09:15. Around 1:30 I woke up for a mid-night piss. I started thinking about finances, a roof repair I need to do and other stuff you should not be thinking about at 01:30 AM. I managed to get back to sleep and rested well through the remainder of the night. Lucky for me. I don't want to wake up at no 01:30.

Up at 04:36 AM. My mind snapped into thinking mode and sleeping was hopeless. Not that I'm not tired. Just not tired enough to fall back asleep. Thankfully this is a rare occurence. Sue is resting peacefully but probably with the help of medication. I hope to take a nap later in the day. We shall see. If not I'll just be

At home waiting for the call to pick Sue up. She's 45 minutes to an hour drive away. I don't sit at the hospital waiting anymore. Total waste of time. Nothing I can do about anything anyway. This year my Class of 73 is having their 50 year reunion. I graduated from Boston Technical High School. My father graduated from there as well. Class of 46 I believe. Fugit.

Did a mulch delivery in the Keys today. In two weeks we'll be vacationing in the middle keys with the boat tied up at the dock for one week. Hope the weather cooperates while we are there. No big deal though. I enjoy being there rain or shine. All ther is to do is eat, drink, fish or f... never mind.

Sue goes for yet another foot surgery tomorrow. She has nerve issues that have NEVER been repaired right. Tomorrow our friend, a surgeon that specializes in hands, is going to take a shot at it. She is a nerve specialist as well and she says she knows what the problem is. Expecting a 3 hour surgery. I'm dropping Sue off, going home and coming back for her when they get ready to release her. She's has had between 90-100 surgeries through the years. I've lost count. 6+ on that foot alone. Me sitting around would be of no use. Might as well stay busy. Dropping her off at 11:00 for a surgery at 03:00 PM. They're doing her last because they know it will be a long surgery. Just not sure how long that might be. Supposedly she will be able to walk afterwards. We will see.

By now I'm sure you all have put away your Kwanzaa candles and are ready to undertake the blessings of a new year. The past few years have generally been less than stellar and we now gradually partake in the new normal. With societal changes, economic upheaval, political unrest, global disharmony and the never the ending racial discord, I am sure we can still find much to rejoice. All is well in my little kingdom where I am police chief, govenor, fire marshall, director of policy and CFO. (Sue is the CEO). I am also the landscaper, housekeeper, detailer and general repairman (or repairperson) to be politically correct. I don't expect a major change in gender identification over the next decade or modifications in my work ethic. Still hate how modern conveniences have turned the world upside down. Technology meant to improve humanity has enslaved it. For sure to only get worse with the improvements in the field of robotics and it's incorporation for uses in the human body. Looking back we can all see what was once fantasy is now reality. I am so fortunate to be born when I was. Still grateful after all these years.

Hello everyone. I just came down from litening to the sounds of a steel drum. Nice island music. Sitting in the port at Nassau. We'll be leaving soon on our last night of the 4 day cruise. Wonder what we'll do tonight after we eat at the steakhouse. Maybe go to the casino. LOL Nah. Defitely go to the casino. See if I can win some money back.

Today was a sea day (no port of call) so I got up late, ate breakfast, then parked my ass in a chair in front of a slot machine. 6 hours later (and many dollars, I might add) I called it a day. I had a lot of fun playing but spent a little more than I should have. Gamblers remorse I guess. No big deal though. I'll still come in at budget because I'm not playing tonight. I left a couple hundred available for play tomorrow night. Maybe I'll get lucky. Maybe I wont. That's why they call it gambling. Sometimes I call it donating.

Hello from 8 decks up on the Atlantic Ocean. All is well and only $25 down on their money. Got my internet set up and I'm good to go. I'll be up late which means I'll get up late. Slots are open all night so I can come and go as I please. Drinks on them too. N/A drinks of course.

Tommy, how did the Florida crops do with the recent freeze?

We did OK. Where there is frost in Florida there will be damage. Citrus maybe.

Goodbye to another year. So far this decade has sucked but better times lie ahead. May not be for another decade or two but better times lie ahead. If all else fails I'm still good at making lemonade.

Packing for our Bahama cruise. 4 day break. Just a nice little getaway. Eat, sleep, eat and gamble. Leaving Friday. Will have an assault team in place at the house should the need arise. ;)

Good mornin. All is well. Sue and I gave each other nothing for Hanumas. That's because we don't wait for Christmas to treat ouirselves for what we want but don't really need. The Christmas stuff is already put away except for the inflatables. I'll do them today as long as they're not damp. It's been rainy and cold for SoFlo. Had a big fishkill at the nursery. Tropical fish do not like cold weather. Bought a couple of water heaters today that will drop in the pond for next time. They might help. They might not.

December 31st marks 14 years since I retired from the P.O. The time has just flown by. Tempus Fugit, right? Even though I've been gone that long I had a dream last night that I was working at the P.O.. Well ... I guess that was more of a nightmare than a dream.

Well, all I can say is I'm killing myself. If you have to go might as well be from carbs and meat.

The guests have arrived and brought a trailer withe a side by side of road vehicle. It's OK. We have a big lot. There was some ice built up in the mini fridge freezer. Sue decided to chip some out with a knife. Do I need to say anymore? Sue is shopping for a replacement mini fridge right now. She said "You're gonna be mad at me." I could tell you all what's running through my head but that would be inappropriate. It's not ready for prime time.

Yes Marcus. The iguana doesn't fall far from the tree. I think it has to be in the low 40's or less. They aren't dead. They are just in torpor. Cold blooded creatures.

tor·por
noun
a state of physical or mental inactivity; lethargy.

Doesn't the frigid weather put you in torpor?

G'mornin. Busy with Christmas party clean up and prep. Sue being the never ending work magnet has a friend's son, wife and their 2 kids staying back in the office shed for a few days. They couldn't find a hotel room as everything is booked. I'm not crazy about it but that makes no diference when it comes to Sue. I have a space heater due in today to keep the chill out of the air back there. Expect it to drop to the high 40's on Sunday morning. In weather news, I hope everybody gets plenty of snow so when it melts it can fill up the depleted aquifers and resevoirs. All the icy weather must have the wildlife and domestic animals freezing their asses off. People at least have options.
