It could be worse - I have heard of guys pulling it out, only to find the bottom section still in the car.

Mine also had more rust damage on one corner than the other, but fortunately not beyond repair. No way was I gonna shell out that kind of cash for a new one (and mine was the early version). We fixed it, painted it, and forgot it.

Don't know how you can turn down an offer like that!

Its race week here in Bristol.

100,000 extra people who don't know where they're going or what they're doing. And, believe it or not, I think some of them may be inebriated.

Here's a collection of photos I've taken over the past couple of years. Mostly from shows I've attended, but there's a few from Floyd Garrett's Muscle Car Museum and the NCM at the end.

So is there any interest in a C4 Mega Picture Post?

You can get a reprinted factory assembly manual for that car, from any of the Vette parts suppliers. They're also on eBay all the time.
Mine has been invaluable. :thumbleft:

It sounds like already know the trouble spots.

The only other things I would look for is frame rust, especially at the rear kick-up (trailing arm pivot area), and floorboard rust (I believe 80s had steel). And depending on how many miles, stress cracks in the frame around the front suspension.

Since you owned an '81, you already know to expect little to nothing when you hit the gas.

And if it has been sitting a while since last driven (several months or years), make sure the brakes actually work before you test drive it.

I'm also going to "attempt" to make a template for an air pump eliminator so I can get it made up. I am too cheap to spend $150, but if it's much easier to buy it I will. Anyone else make their own?

I helped volzfan with this one, but I don't know if he kept a pattern and/or dimensions. I'll ask him when I get the chance, if he doesn't chime in first. :thumbleft:

I talked to a guy at the gas station this morning who had a 71. The more I see the C3s, the more I appreciate them I kinda think my wife would like me to get one and sell the C4 just because she likes the way it looks better. I say why get rid of the C4, let's just have both

Matthew

My wife wants a C4, but she wants to keep the C3 as well. I have to keep reminding her the next thing we build needs to be a bigger garage.
