Thanks for the advice guys.

We bought the complete kit that includes the new straps & bolts for both half-shafts and the rear end of the drive shaft and bought the non-greaseable units as advised.

Installation is set for this Saturday

Does anyone know what the new Spicer part # is for a 95 C4 application? It used to be 5-447x and 5-799X depending on whether or not it came with greasable fittings but these have been discontinued it seems and I haven't had any success navigating the Spicer website for the current application.

Does anyone have a source for the spicer units? I want to replace the ones on both half shafts.

Thanks!!

I lived in Woodstock NY up in the Catskill Mts for 16 years. Wife drove the 4wd 95 GMC Yukon and I drove my 91 Maxima with 4 studded snow tires in the winter months. The lower cg with the Maxima made it handle much much better in the snow and ice than the GMC. It was also much better on steep hills.

One really important factor to remember is that if you do end up with a fwd vehicle you need to put snows on all 4 corners and not just on the front.

Everyone's experience is different but if I were to do it again ... I'd go for fwd with 4 studded snows over a sport ute.
