I have never seen anything mentioned over there about this site. I dought it would last long before it would get the LOCK. they do not seem to like any mention of other Corvette sites over there. I think they are afraid people will find out there are other sites that are just as good or better.

You can not run tall VC unless you find some with the ends that are at a angle. The biggest problem is not the AC as much as the wiper motor on the drivers side. I used a cheap set of chrome ones last year and modified (hammer) the end to clear the wiper motor. This year I have cast allum and no wipers until I get the VC cut and welded to clear the wiper motor.

Most people are using stock of short VC without baffles and a thick gasket and not having any problems with the rockers hitting.

Here are the ones that I ran last year (cheap chrome set)

here are the ones i am running this year.

I have the chrome ones in a box somewhere, if you want to try them let me know and I well send them to you. If you decide you want to use them $20 and they are yours. If not use them as a fererence for fit and send them back to me.

Phil

You really have to separate SCCA Pro racing from the real SCCA.

The stuck up SOB's seem to vary by region, I've seen a few, actually at Summit Point (early 80's) and heard of a few inthe northern midwest.

I would suggest however that you attend a local roadrace. You'll be supprised how great the people are there, in Cal Club (S.Cal) or come up to N.Cal. San Francisco Region and hang out at the Satruday nite social that's free to all workers, competitors and guests.
I have ran SCCA autocross for many local regions and never found any stuck up people. I did meet some that wanted to complain and acuse me of cheating BUT I guess you have that in any organization.

AHHHH If it sat that long with the same fuel in it or even worse started once and awhile and run old fuel through it then there is a pretty good chance it could use some injectors and prob a pump.

I assume you have already changed the filter (maybe a couple times) and new plugs, wires, cap, rotor?

How many miles have you put on the car since you have had it on the road?

If it were me (just my opinion) with a car that has sat this long I would atleast put a pump in it and have the injectors set off and cleaned and flowed or just buy some and put them in. Keep in mind that your car (if it is a 87) should have a 9th injector that is known to go bad and will case crappy running conditions when the engine is cold.

This is possible! put a fuel press gauge on the valve on the fuel rail(make sure you have no leaks at the gauge) and run the car for a few minutes until warm and shut it off. If you have a leaky injector or regulator you should see the fuel press drop off on the gauge. If everything is sealed up it should not fall and hold pressure.

Check the fuel lines (rubber area) under the ac compressor for any leaks. These are knwon for leaking and causing fires. Just a good thing to check to be safe.

If all this checks out there is really no other test short of pulling them out and having them put on a flow bench. If you are going to go to this extreme then might as well spend the $170 and just replace them.

I went with one that has a attached fan and mounted it in the back ofthe car. The fan has a thremostat that turns it on when it sees 180 deg at the cooler.

I agree! I would have to have the 6 speed also. Funny thing is I know a few people that have bough the auto (paddle shift) and said they like it better than the manual and these are people that I would never have guessed to buy a auto. One guy had a 6 speed and they had to buy it back and the one he replaced it with is the auto and he said he is glad he got the auto on the replacement.

I might be changing jobs and will need to purchase a car to travel in. I have been looking at the usual Cobalt SS, G6, BMW3 series but for the prices of C5's right now I am considering one for my company car. The price combined with the mileage they get it is a win win situation. Just need to figure out what to do when there is snow on the ground.

Whatever I do I will not be getting rid of the C4.

Some real retarded people over at CF based on the poll results.

I dont think they were too far off IF the car was tuned correct. I think if everything was spot on (timing, fuel, prom, etc) I think the majority would have been really close guessing around 300.

For no more money that is in this basically stock motor 300 is good enough for me.

237HP 337TQ @5200 RPM. This is close to where i thought it would be right now (was guessing 260-280) however the timing was retarted durring the pull and have done 0 tuning. When we built the motor we were going for 300 / 350 so we are pretty close. I think with some better fuel and up the timing 6 deg we should be really close.

We are going to a shop this weekend for a tour with our Corvette club and I am going to try and get the car on the dyno while we are there.

I thought it would be fun to see how good everybody is at guessing HP.

Here is what we have!

350 CI 10.5:1 compression
Dart Iron eagle 180 heads (little port matching)
1.5 roller rockers
Super ram with proted lower intake
24lb injectors (LS-1 type)
headers with 3" dual exhaust through H pipe and race muffs
comp cams Xtreme Energy 262 / 464 cam
A4 with 2400 converter
2.73 gears
mail order tune on 93 octane

Let me know if I missed any info that is important.

Go buy a booster and put on it. This is what I am doing now with mine (same problem). If the break pedal is hard like you say (as is mine) I imagine if you pull the hush panel down and start the car you will hear the vac leak from the booster in the car. Lay down under the dash and press the brake while it is running and hear for the hiss sound.

Has the car started running wierd about the same time you had brake problems due to the vac leak?

Here is a pic of the 61 that my dad purchased this last summer. This is his next project since his midyear is pretty much done.

I actually built a wall in the compartment so half of it would act as a sub box. I then lined the box with foam padding and ported the area. I wanted a decent sound (no BOOM BOOM all bass) without any of it showing. Believe it or not it sounds really well and due to the fact the subs are at your back I do not need to work the subs much at all. For the $500 bucks (total) I have in the sound system it sounds really impressive. I also have a decent pioneer head unit and pioneer door and rear speakers.

Here are some more pics.

The seat bases I had shaved when I bought the seats. This keeps the total height of the seat the same but lowers the seat cushion where you sit. You can tell by looking at the seat as there is a noticable gap between the back part and seat bottom part. I asked the max shave they would do. I also have the sub belt hole.

The sliders are locking on each side, I thought that would be safer for track use. I got the seats with free shipping at streetortrack.com
