The mounting bolt orientation is wrong. Also the vette set up mounts flat on the firewall, where the f-body master has an angled mounting surface.

I believe I read a vette master will work w and LS1/T56 hydraulic throw out bearing if a special line is fabricated to link the two. Hopefully the vette master or an aftermarket will fit the pedal set up and have the proper volume for the bearing.

Any input on that would be appreciated!

How about just really blotchy obvious rattle can flat black?

Anyway, back on track. I have a some-what local guy (also LS1 swapping an 84) going from manual to auto. He stopped buy and we traded pedals. They look like they will work (the ones I have must be 90+) , and he didn't see a lot that was different fire-wall wise.

Hopefully I will get some garage time soon and get the pedals installed.

The bad news is after getting the (correct) clutch pedal, the LS1 F-body clutch master will definitely not work...

I was banned from CF, couldn't get into that waxing thing.

Go ahead and rock that T56 hard.

LOL!! (we don't have an lol smiley here?)

That is so true. I should also add a bra.

Another CF answer: why add an LS1 a SBC can make just as much power... blah blah blah... you should at least use an iron block so weigh stays the same.. blah blah blah...

I've already gutted the interior, and part of me wants to fog the whole thing flat black just to annoy the "wax it and keep it stock" corvette stereo-type crowd!

My car was an early swap. It actually uses C5 style stands and has triangular chunks welded to the frame to mount to.

I'm not super confident in the welding, or placement (I don't even know who did it). I'm considering cutting all that out and finding stock frame mounts and going w speed hound or universal mounts. I want to run the melrose headers. The car currently have what I believe are f-body shorty headers.

I already deleted the HVAC stuff, and it clears the firewall otherwise. I feel for guys doing street car C4 LS1 swaps. Deleting the HVAC stuff made things way easier!

Thanks Joe, I actually already have that link bookmarked.

I got info that maybe 90+ pedals are different, maybe that is what I got. I'm told 90+ doesn't have the aluminum cross brace under the dash. That would explain the difference in shape.

I'm in the middle of swapping an 84 vette from auto to T56 (it is an LS1 swap).
I have the dash and bracing all apart. I purchased a set of pedals on CF, and they don't look like they will work.

The aluminum box is different shape on the new-to-me manual brake pedal (on the rear facing end, the master cylinder side is the same), and the pedal itself has too much material above the bushing, so it cannot be swapped into my aluminum box(I wish I had the proper term for that).

Also I cannot see where the clutch pedal and bracket will go.

Are 84 firewalls different between autos and manuals?

Is the bracing different auto vs manual?

What year pedals will work w an 84?

I'll try to get picks up tomorrow if that will help.

Thanks in advance!

And yes it is autocross. They call the stuff I run "High Speed Autocross". It is one lap on a full road course (no cones). The tracks we run are 1.8 miles and similar.

My 02 Z28 was class champ for 07 and 08. I figure w a C4's superior suspension, and lighter weight... and the Z28s LS1 power...
Lets just say I cannot wait!

Plus I intend to make this car more race oriented. A/C, Radio, anything that doesn't help speed will get tossed (within the rules and keeping it street legal).

I totally agree that safety mods should not increase your class!!

I run street tire class and assume their logic is by the time you have a roll bar or cage your car is serious enough to be in the top street tire class. Thing is by keeping the 5.7 LS1 I was hoping to stay in the 2nd from the top (SS). My Z28 did very well there, and so no one should be able to touch the vette.

All that said. You are also supposed to keep the heater (and door panels, dash pad, and carpet) to stay in these classes, and I don't really want to do that, so I may be screwed anyway,

Decisions, decisions...

I'm still thinking about this. I think the roll bar pictured above may be this:
http://www.dougrippie.com/drm/suspens ... cketsfor%20C4%20Corvettes

I like the idea of the roll bar, though it will bump me into the next class.
I also like the idea of the simple install Hardbar, which I could also resell if/when I go to a cage...

Maybe if Mr Hoffman gets back to me with a price I cannot refuse it would push me over the edge... :thumbright:

Look forward to seeing your build!
I'm putting together an LS1/T56 84 myself.

AC and wiring seem to be the hard parts. I am building my car for the road course, so I am lucky enough to ditch the A/C and anything else that doesn't make if faster.

What is your location? If any of the parts I am removing will help your swap, you are welcome to them.

Right, Brian, I was under the understanding that too low is bad as the shoulder straps are to prevent forward motion, not hold you down.

I'm only wondering if it is high enough to make the straps contact the top of the seat-back holes. I'm assuming from your response you do not think this is an issue.

BTW, I am mesmerized by your avatar!!!

Aardwolf, I like your fabricated solution. Since this is a track car, I have zero issues with mounting. I know most harness bars are intended not to have to cut up the car. I may end up w something similar.

Since I don't care about cutting the car, could I use the 90-up C4 bar? What is different? I tend to see the 90-up bars more frequently.

Thanks for the responses guys!

I'm leaning toward race style seats w the holes in the backs (I wish I could think of a more articulate way to say that). So, I'm wondering if the high mount position of the hardbar would work.

However, I'm not sure if I am judging this accurately as the pics I have seen are w stock seats.

Any thoughts?

I'm building an 84 Vette with an LS1 and T56. I plan to keep it street legal, but am sacrificing a lot for the track (no A/C, sound deadener, radio etc). I want to run a set of Kirkeys or similar. I do not want to put in a roll cage this year (I know, I know). So anyway I want to run a 5-pt harness, but don't like the prices I'm seeing at Ecklers fo harness bars, and I have yet to find a used one.

So, are there other alternatives?

Just have one fabbed by a local shop?

Any of you have one for grabs?

Thanks in advance!
