I'm chasing signal problems when the headlights are on, and a host of weird symptoms on all fronts of signals and lights.

I had the same issue, everything worked fine until the headlights were on. Turned out I had brown & yellow reversed at the front left signal light.

I have burned my entire weekend trying to get this horn working. 1969 Standard Steering.
I pulled off the cap and found the plates underneath were not arranged for a through contact, lined everything up and seems good. Now I either have fulltime horn or no horn. Everything is working it's just the way I am installing the pin, spring and little plastic insulator. I have searched this and other sites and found lots of pic's and narratives but it seems that this last step is to simple to be of concern. Can some one tell me what order/arrangment these three pieces are installed in ? What length is the alumimum pin supposed to be? I have tried from 3/4" to 1-1/4"

Thank you
feeling stupid

Well it was a horny kinda day. I pulled everything from under the steering wheel to see how this thing works and found a mess. Nothing was were it was supposed to be, now it is. I even have threads coming through the nut that holds the steering cap on. Horn goes off as I am sliding the spring, plastic insulator, and pin in when i ground on the sides but once it s all screwed down nothing works.
Questions:
1.Is this arrangement supposed to be a full time ground. Pushing down on the horn doesn't push the pin in any further its solid, why the spring ?
2. How long is the pin supposed to be, I have been fabing pins from 3/4" up to 1-1/8. No differences.
Maybe I will hang a canned horn from my rear view, I can't believe how much time this horn is taking.
Thanks Guys
JR

everything is fully functional up to the harmonica connector. I believe I am putting the spring, pin and insulator in wrong or there isn't a ground going back from the horn button. I have tried every combo possible and get nothing. I have confirmed horns work and ground at the harmonica, 3rd wire in, black.

Yes, I have looked at Jim Sheas Write up, Wilcox write ups, AIM and it's just not working. I have the done the tests step by step all is good, still no honk. Is the brush set up with the spring, pin and insulator a permanent contact and depressing the horn creating a through ground ? What order do they go in? Were does the second ground contact occur? Am I missing a part? I don't know man I've amazed myself(generally inept) on so many things and now I can't get something I know is so simple, just not seeing it.

I have burned enough hours. I can not figure out the stupid horn contacts in my 69 standard steering. I am certain I bagged all the parts 4 years ago, nothing lost but just will not work.
