biggrizzly Ok to leave the Oil Filter Adapter off?

I forgot to take Jerry the oil filter adapter while he was rebuilding my engine. I remember us talking about it but I totally forgot it. He simply installed an oil filter right on the block just like old school small blocks.

From what I understand, if my Cats are downstream and not factory cats and I have long tube headers I DO NOT NEED the adapter.

Can you guys confirm this before I go putting my motor in.

Thanks

It really doesn't do anything except offset the oil filter from the engine block. I just talked to Jerry on the phone and he has an adapter in there but its just a straight thread on jobby. He also plugged the oil bypass, which a lot of shops do too.

So... I think you are safe and I am not going to worry about putting the factory offset one back on it. I understand that without the factory offset I can run the longer, fatter oil filter. The Wix filter he has on there is bigger than my factory sized filter I have on the shelf.
