Fredbird Rubber Trim on center console...

The previous owner of my 1991 Corvette either pulled up the rubber trim that goes up from the carpet to the center console when trying to replace the stereo or it just got old and came loose.

Either way, at this point I'm looking at 2 options, replace the carpet and go all the way up. (Probably easiest and preferred fix method.)

Or try to re-attach the rubber trim. I'm thinking of using 3M 77. But wonder if that rubber trim will be too heavy. Thoughts/Ideas.

I've included the picture. (Ignore the mess on the floor, and the ripped speaker cover... this was the first day after I bought the car. I've since fixed those issues.)

The trim's attached to the carpet so the whole piece will have to be pulled up high enough to tuck under the console.

The PIA part will be getting the back of the rubber/carpet and the tunnel clean enough to hold the adhesive.

The console needs to be taken off first.

But, why not give it a shot? There won't be that much more cleanup if it doesn't work.

I don't think you'll find anything much better than 77 as long as you let it skin good.

And I'd put a couple rows of blue masking tape on the console to protect it from the adhesive.

I also have an '91 with a rough interior.

I agree, why not give the adhesive a shot, it can't really hurt. If it doesn't work I kinda like the carpet look.

Question for you/the group - I notice in your picture that the side of the rubber/plastic cover has separated from the edge of console. How is that fixable? Thanks.

Just realized you might be talking about the same thing I asked...except mine hasn't been completely pulled away, just a small separation...thanks.
