I wanna see pics and read a good post from you this weekend on how your build is finished and everything works better than expected.
Good luck with the finishing touches! |

One of the guys from the forum is coming over tomorrow. I expect to have everything cleaned up and ready to go.
One problem......the threaded nut and the fuel rail. One went in a little crooked. I can't get that dam nut to tighten. Goes in one thread or two and pops back out. I'm not going to screw with it, I'm just goning to pick up a 16MMX1.5 tap and clean up the first couple threads. They don't look damaged, but the nut screws into the old oil filter just fine. I ran out of patience tonight, so I'll look at it to0morrow. Maybe if I can get a 16MM bolt I can slot it and clean up the threads. It's the little crap that'll kill ya. That should solve the problem of getting the motor fired up, Next is the torque converter and I have to get parts of the exhaust custom fabbed, from the headers, to the X pipe, out of the X pipe and to the mufflers. Hopefully The Home Despot will have a 16MM bolt and I can do something with it!!! I'll keep you posted. |

But it ain't much to see. I'm online seeing if I can find a 16MM bolt tomorrow. I was looking forward to taking it around the block with open headers... |

Well, it's RUNNING!!!!
I had a problem with the screw on the fuel feed. The first thread became a very slightly deformed. The screw would not feed into the throttle body nut. I was in a bit of a panic. I had nothing to lose so byebyel98 came over to help me out. With his help I took a dremel to the threads, followed by a file, then a hack saw blade. After numerous bouts of modification of the threads, it bolted up. It went right in, we tightened it up and it stayed there. BB98 went over my work, and I must say he was rightfully impressed. He went over my valve adjustment. Turns out I had everything pretty dam close. He threw a minor adjustment on them and cranked them down. After fixing the fuel, and adjusting the valves we filled it with antifreeze. Fired it up again and seems to be running really well. I have to do the finishing touches like install the valve covers, the AC compressor, put on the belt and I should be good to roll into the street. I still have to have the exhaust fabricated, and I'm considering the torque converter too. In the next couple weeks I'll have that taken care of, but that's no work I can do myself, I'll pay someone to do it so that's only two days of work for someone else. So it's running well, no major problems, leaks, seems to have good compression. Pics tonight, I'm tired right now. |

Just one more thing. Besides the compliments I got on my fuel line routing job, the sound of open headers makes me smile.
Also, BBL98 asked me when I had the car wet sanded. Never did. One hell of a finish on the car. Hopefully tomorrow I can get it tied up on on the street. Can't wait for the seat of pants feeling!!!! |

John,
Congratulations!!! I'm looking forward to the day myself, but I think its still off a ways as I'm just not getting into the garage these days. I can't wait to hear how it runs on the street. |

The pictures. Remember, I put the money IN the motor, not on it. I probably can stand to dress up the engine bay a bit. That's next years project.
I still have to mount the AC compressor and put the belt on, then I'm done and it's off to get a custom exhaust. |
