long time no post.

long story short, my 91 needs engine, or at least work that requires i pull it out. something is locked inside and it will not turn more than 1/4" either way. not sure if moisture got in the cylinders or what. i drove it into the garage and covered it up for winter 2 years ago and it never made it out.

i have been considering building some sort of more powerful engine for my belair, which would leave me with my perfectly good small block, which would conveniently work really well in the vette. it's basically my clone of the 330hp vortec crate motor with a little more lift, and i used a factory 1pc main roller block. i have a holley vortec EFI intake, fuel rails, 4bbl 1000cfm throttle body so it would make a nice upgrade to the L98.

my big idea would be - why stick with the 700r4? I happen to have a T56 from a 95 trans am sitting next to the vette in the garage. It appears that the big issue is the c-beam mount. this does not seem hard to deal with, I weld and fabricate everything anyway. It's hard to find many C4 T56 threads via google without "get a ZF6 it's easier"

It almost appears the hardest part would be getting my big self under the dash to put the clutch pedal in.

not sure if there is a question here but i'll take whatever ideas you want to throw at me.

There are some issues with shifter placement, but there are kits that will retrofit the T56 into the C4.

It's not impossible... just realize... the T56 isn't a ZF6, and the D36 rear ain't gonna hold much power.

If the car hasn't been upgraded to a D44, plan on doing so. A few hard launches with a real engine will result in real damage!
