hey guys, i got this small area on my car that i would like to fix. the previous owner said someone had backed into it and never got around to fixing it. i can tell the car has been repainted once and really this is the only bad spot on the entire car. i do have a little experience painting but that was brand new panels. i have 2 questions:

1. how can i tell what kind of paint it is? (B/C, SS, urethane, ect.)

2. what is the best way to fix this spot? i would rather not have to paint the entire hood.

hell, any reasonable body shop will fix that perfect for under $500.00. To me, it ain't worth the hassle.

I would have the color spotted in then the clam shell recleared.
Agreed with Bogus probably about $500.

But then the problem of there are other chips on the hood and the front bumper where do you draw the line? Next thing you know your painting the whole front maybe $1500.

Then you drive it and chip it all over again

if it was a small chip, i would just hit it with some touch up paint, but it is kinda big'n ugly.
