if you like shifting your manual trans corvette , you really need to consider one of bill boudreaus short shifters. they aren't just a shift lever like most offerings but a complete unit that is shimmed just perfect for smooth quick shifts . I have hd one of these in every c4 I have owned . believe me you will be very glad you did. and feel like you were shifting with a tree branch after you install his . he is also know by most as the zfdoc. his contact number is 602 319 6575. give your wife the hint for this little stocking stuffer . oh yeah happy thanksgiving to all the awesome guys who frequent this forum .it really is the best forum out there

The only downside is that he has to install it! Which for many is a bit of a jaunt.

I have heard great things of his shifter... and when the time is ripe, he will get my entire gear box to rebuild.

I have the hurst shifter. It was designed by a former CF member, ChrisZR1, or Chris Reinhardt(sp?), about 13 years ago now. He tried to market it himself, but the liability insurance, and the expensive manufacturing, made it cost prohibitive. Hurst bought the idea and gave him a number he could sell at profit... so he made his back that way! I got mine from him for $120, and it was installed when I did a clutch back in 2002. No regrets, either.

With a little searching, they are still available. Hurst doesn't catalog them anymore, but from what I have gleaned, they do run a batch every so often...

hm... I was under the impression most of the benefit came from his custom fitment. I stand corrected.

it is custom fitted to the housing that the shifter fits in when you get his shifter you get the housing that the shifter fits in too that is shimmed perfect ,. that is the reason the price is 230. it really is the best mod to do if you like shifting your trans . shifts are way more positive as well as shorter .
