Ahhh...if you saw my post in Off Topic you would know that I had to pull out my gas tank. It was leaking really bad and I couldn't find out where while it was still in the car.

So I ended up pulling it out(didn't find a tank sticker)...come to find out there were a couple real nice rust holes. I was hoping to find a pin hoel or something I could fix temporarly since I plan to do a body off resto on it next winter. But the holes are too large and there is rust inside the tank, so it would be best to replace it. Luckily, they are not that expensive(around $150-199).

As soon as I can scrape up some $$$ I will be purchasing a new one. I wil post pics of teh update and maybe even do a tech tip. hey thats a great idea!

Keep us posted.

I'll be starting my tank removal and rear fiberoptics repair in the next few weeks.

I'll do the same.

Getting the tank out wasn't too bad at all but if you have stock mufflers, you may have to remove them. I have flowmasters and with a little work was able to juts loosen them up and squeeze it through. It is definitely rusted through, so I will be trying to get a new one soon. It won't have to be authentic since its a non-original car anyways.

I have fiber-optic issues too, but thats for another time.

Really? Awesome man! Obviously I will pay for it, but I am not sure if they changed throughout the years. I will have to do some research. Let me know if you find it. You may just be a life saver here!

Well, I checked out a couple sources and it does NOT appear that a 77 tank will fit. It is due to the filler neck area being way different. If you look at the tank your buddy has, it should have a large "oval" area that the filler neck attaches to the tank. The '71 has a small attachment area. Not sure if it would fit other than that, but I would rather stay with the design that came with it.

So, I REALLY appreciate your offer to help but it won't serve my needs. It is truly a blessing to have people like you around to help!!!!

Yeah, it was a great idea! I wish it would have worked out. I am just ready to drive this thing again. I owe, I owe.....IRS it all goes. I am working tons of hours to pay them and hopefully I will have enough to get a new tank.

Thanks again!!

You can put lay the body back on the frame if the frame rolls. If not, they make a harness kit made specifically for lifting a c3 body. It straps below th body and it also holds the front up. The strap hook is located at the top of the car near the T-Tops. You can use a Chery-picker or engine hoist to lift the body as one.
