What are the tricks to removing door panels on my 91 corvette?

No it is easy I used a pady knife and a skrewdriver just take your time.
and when you get it loose pick it up slowly good luck! |

Patience...there is a hidden screw behind the door handle and another behind the sliding door lock mechanism.
