I thought this site was really cool if you're interested. It's a bit too long to paste here, so here's the link:
http://communication.howstuffworks.com/sms.htm If you text, you'll notice the 160 character limit, here's what it says about that: SMS was designed to deliver short bursts of data such as numerical pages. To avoid overloading the system with more than the standard forward-and-response operation, the inventors of SMS agreed on a 160-character maximum message size. |
