Hi....I am wondering what the check valve is on the right side of the manifold....the one circled in yellow...what does it does?

THe picture is on page 2 of the pdf.

The one on my 84 (different location of course) is connected to the vacuum reservoir for the cruise control and ?????? I can't tell where the smaller outlet connects to but on my car it runs down the firewall behind the distributor. Could be for the vaccum switch on the brakes that disengages the crusie control.
