I want to check the timming on my 86 but I can't find the EST wire in order to disconnect it. I know the color and sort of the location near the wiper motor but I can't find it. Does it connect to the distriobutor cap at all?

no... it's a pain in the ass. It moves, too!

It's on the firewall, between the engine and the brake booster. It's light tan.

its not on the firewall, its forward of it, next to the brake booster. Its a single pin plug sticking out of some conduit, and last one i saw was black and tan wire.

it moves. that's the problem. I have seen it tight against the fire wall, I have seen it loose. I have seen it closer to the booster or closer to the wiper motor.

it's a pain in the ass...

it's a tan wire with a dark brown (or black) connector. I don't specifically remember a black tracer, but there could be one.

It does yes, ive seen it in a couple places, but then you never know what people might do under the bonnet to influence this either. Im pretty sure it does have 2 tone, but then without looking again i cant be certain.
