i would like to know the name of the solenoid that is on the back of the AC compressor, and if it is still avail from like corvette central, ecklers, or mid america?


sorry for the crude pic, kinda hard trying to take a pic of a little plug at dusk on a corvette with a digital cam

Dude, I think you need to take a better picture. Sorry not trying to be rude but I'm not even sure what I'm looking at in that picture. I think there is a pressure hose at the top but that sucker is bad blury.

Can't see your picture, but my '84 doesn't have any solenoid on the back of the compressor. Could you be talking about the vacuum actuated heater control valve, that's located in front of the A/C evap. box, at the right (passenger side) rear corner of the engine? Is this "solenoid" hot or cold when the defroster is turned on? Or are you talking about the connectors that plug into the compressor? The plug on the top rear of the compressor is the safety switch, which will disable the compressor if the freon gets too low, or if the head pressure gets too high. The plug on the top front, as you probably know, is for the clutch, which connects the compressor to the drive pulley.
