Bought a new clutch master and Slave Cylinder from Napa to R&R my tired system. I stripped out the threads on the hose between the slave and the master. More specifically the threads feeding itnot the Master Cyl. Dang it!

I have a few questions for those who have been down this road.

1.) Any compatibility issues with the NAPA #39763 Master cylinder?
2.) Do these hoses "age?" Was it time to repalce this hose anyway?
3.) Sources for semi-affordable clutch hoses?
4.) I don't believe the old one can be repaired without opening myself up to future issues. Am I correct?

Obviously, I am a hydraulic hose newb!

Thanks.

Just went thru the same thing. I tried to remove the hose from the slave and the threads went with it. I had to buy a new slave and am about to buy a new hose. The fittings are 12mm-1.0 and damn hard to find.

Corvette Stainless Brakes makes a nice hose for around $90.

I did a new hose... new master... but old slave. And I used the NAPA master. Good piece, to my estimations.

I do have a hose, but I am not sure of condition. However, IT HAS THE ENDS ON IT!!!!

Yep, I learned yesteday that the ends are kind of important! I envy you if your has ends! It is going to take me a few days to warm up to paying $100 for a hose. Holy smoke!

Got it Andy. Thanks. It looks to be in great condition! You never did tell me how you wanted me to pay you for the shipping? I am going to mail you a USPS Money Order now that I have your return address? Cool with you?

lemme PM ya.

That hose was in the Vette for a few years... one day, about 4 years ago, it bled off all the pressure... I have no idea what that was about. I refilled the system and it never did it again. So for all I know, the hose is fine...

wierd.

You can have any hose shop build you a braided steel line with the appropriate ends on it. You'll need to take the old hose in so they can match it, but it shouldn't be difficult for them.

The new line won't have the section of hard line down near the slave, but it will work with a normal 90 degree fitting.

I've had various hose shops do them for me, and cost has ranged from as little as $7 to as much as $40. It really seems to vary from place to place.
