For those of you who are new to the site I have been restoring an arcade cabinet which I purchased from ebay for 50 buck. So far I am into it for about 400 now. Any way here are the updated pics. Still lots to do but imagine all the white is black. I have new buttons and joysticks enroute and I still have to get a monitor or tv yet. I have a special card that will allow four games to be installed at once with a switch to move between them. I have so far area51/maximum force, pit fighter, and street fighter 2.

Now with 2 coats of each color. The black still needs to dry and with the lighting and the shine off of the paint it created some blurry pics.

Its coming along quite well johnny

If you search around for a used 32" monitor, you should eventually find one, probably a NANAO or Orion, and the RGB will connect directly to the monitor board, and thatll give you a way better, progressive scan picture.

Only problem with this is that finding a used screen that isnt burned in could be a fair challenge, when i had the 20" and 26" uprights both of them were burned in quite badly, to the point that on the 26", you could still see the health bars at the top from Samurai Shodown. (the 26" machine had a single slot NEO-GEO MVS board, so only one game ran in it at a time, the 20" had a 4 slotter NEO-GEO MVS, so it would run through its 4 games one after the other.)

What brand of buttons and sticks did you get??

I got them from ebay. Here is the link. I am looking to get a tv rather that a moniter due to the cost. The moniters run around 400 and up for a 33 inch.

I dont mean a computer monitor, like a TV but the board is striped down to only include what you need, which is an RGB input.

Something like this: http://www.converters.tv/products/cga_to_cga/467.html

Here is a good catalogue for controls

Yeah I have seen them. The one for a 33inch is like 500 some bucks. I can get a used 32-34 inch from free to 75 bucks. So thats what route I am going to go

Will you have MAME capabilities as well? If you've never heard of that before, google MAME... The idea of running 1000s of games on the same cabinet sounds pretty cool. I've wanted to build one for the longest time...

Yup heard of it but not going to do it. I am sticking with a Jamma set up. They do have jamma boards that run like mame. I know of one that will let me play 1000 games. I would like to find or make, a mame set up that is gun only games

Do you play MAME? Ive got the full DVD set from a while back, me nad my mates play it all the time, got some NEO-GEO home console sticks ive converted to USB to use on it, and mate, you simply can not tell its not the real deal apart from the picture being sharper on the high rez of the LCD projector

What games do you play on it all?

I would love to do a mame cabinet but right now I already got my hooks set on this one. I think I want to do mame for my next one. I have been reading up on mame and I know I can get nintendo emulators free but what about regular arcade emulators?

MAME stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. It will emulate almost every single arcade game out there, although some of the more complex 3D games it has abit of trouble with. There are other specialist emulators to do these such games.
