Man would I love a corvette in a matching color! Thanks guys for the kind words! Go kart came out before the vacation, took quite a few cranks, had to jump it even but it did fire up and we rode on it for about an hour. Put it back into the shed where it slumbers till my return. In store for that thing is removing the govener. That should wake it up quite a bit. I have a new carb which is jetted differant too. Anyway, its great to be back! Hopefully I dont put on much weight trying to catch up on all the good eats I have missed!

This is a 04 Avalanche, fully loaded with all the options. Got the sunroof, power seats, leather, rear air, rear radio, heated seats, and 4x4. Been looking awhile for this in Orange. Here are the pics.

Times a passing by quickly and we should be home pretty soon. Doing alot of pool ops right now, yes there is a pool in Iraq. Where we just transitioned to, its a nice olympic size. I do more burning than tanning but its still nice to cool off for a few mins before getting out of the sun again.

Been a bit since my last post but here is the short version of whats going on. Since makeing huge gains at the gym lately I have decided to get something for the house so I spent about 800 on a bowflex dumbbell system. Includes 2 bowflex 1090 series dumbbells (adjustable from 10 to 90 lbs), a bowflex bench (4 possitions), and a bowflex dumbbell rack made for the ones I bought. If I would have bought this set from bowflex it would have been 811 just for the dumbbells and bench. I paid 810 for all three through the military store along with various discounts and specials.
For my next vehicle I have decided on a Avalanche, more practical for my situation. Since I am always remodeling something at the house it just makes sence to have a crew cab, gives me the ability to get the kids from school and stop at Lowes or HD for all my "needs".
Wife is preggo with #5, happened on R&R. What can I say, I love kids!
Finally sold my bike, 500 less than I wanted to get for it but the market sucks right now. You would think the bike market would be booming with gas the way it is.
Lastly, coming home soon. Cant say exactly when but I should be at the house soon enough, I CANT WAIT!!!

Yeah, it sucks. All services went to the 9mm due to the cheaper round, NATO round and females could fire it without taking their head off.
My weapon of choice military wise is this, SCAR 16 chambered in the 7.62 X 51 long barrel.

Well I know some of you wanted to know when I was going R&R but I did not get around to posting it. Plus R&R was VERY busy, imagine trying to cram 1 year of missed family events into 2 weeks. Yeah, it was full force every day doing stuff with the wife and kids. I will try to get some pictures up of the go kart we finally got, dunno if I got any with me driving or not. Things should be cooling down here in the next month or two. Hopefully I will be home before the 4th of July. Guess the biggest update is that the corvette wont be happening for me now. After spending 10Gs on a new HAVOC unit for the house it kind of tapped me out. Still going to get something after I sell my bike but I am looking for something more family orriented. Maybe a 6 cylinder SUV or something. I am not going to decide right now but closer to the time I get home. Plus its really a buyers market for used vehicles right now so it might be a spur of the moment thing if I get a great deal. Anyway, hope your all doing well. I will continue to stop in now and again and see how things are. Once I get to some net that will allow me to get on face book I will become a fan of the guru!

Funny you should say that, I am going to gut the stock muffler to let it free flow. With the MODS I have in store for it, newly jetteted carb, CDI (lets it hit 9500 RPM rather than stuck at 5500), new high performance air filter, and new spark plug ignition plug, I kinda have to gut the muffler just for it to perform the way it needs to.

Well Joe picked up the kart today for me and was kind enough to give it a good long test run, LOL. Sounds like everyone had fun which I am very glad to hear. Pics to follow once the wife loads them onto photobucket. She said every time Joe started it my son would hop into the passenger seat, he loves it! I cant wait to take it to the ATV park and give it a run for the money. A little over 2 weeks yet! She even got a few short videos too, I will post those here as well if my internet cooperates.

I did not post what store that is from. These are very rare. Only a small handful of places sell them. From what I have found out about them, these have the best suspension out there. Plus, I can always upgrade to a 250cc engine later on. Here is the link

Due to unforseen issues, we are not going to get the one pictured. Instead we are most likely going to opt for a local new kart. It will be less powerful at 150cc but still have pleanty of power to reach 40 MPH. Its the same price but again, its local so we wont have to travel 2 hours to get it. Makes things easier for Joe. Here it is.

So, you got the one with the Honda engine?

I've looked at this brand lately, the small dirtbike, to use as a pit vehicle at the racetrack. Wondered about the engines/parts.
I guess some have a Honda and some don't.
I think I saw the Roteka brand advertised localy, might have to go take a peak at them.

Yup, Honda engine and lots of parts available. I could make it a 300cc with a piston change. Add a bit more power with a new filter and exhaust. New pully kit, bigger carb, or new clutch. Tons of stuff to do if I wanted to.

Ok, that guy did end up buying the one with the trailer so its back to the original. Still a great price. Check out the link that I posted up, on that site there are all kinds of MODs you can do on that engine, even a turbo!

This is not the site I am getting it through but they have every kart you can think of!
SHORT LINK!
Also, found another one thats better than this one BUT a guy is looking at it today. If he dont buy it I will. This new one comes with a 5X10 trailer for the same price as the above one! I have a trailer, I can sell that and make out like a bandit! Anyway, here is a shot of that one. Either way, its going to be one of these I think.

Yeah, karts have come a long way since I was a kid. The kind I currently have was the standard. Anything else was something you had to make. There were no plans or anything out floating about, you had to use your imagination. Thank god they sell these pre-made ones....lol.

Well when I left this time I promised my kids that I would buy them a new go kart. Ours took a dump (bad carb) which is a easy enough fix but its like riding a thick steel plate being pulled by a monster truck over rough terrain. So, I have been looking and found this (pic below). Its a 250cc, with light kit, starter, suspension, and 2 actual seats (not a bench). I know the kids will love it and I am getting it at a pretty good deal.

I have been meaning to chime in on this thread...

I get Corvette Market magazine. The thing is, C6s are getting CHEAP. They are going on eBay for $25k. Period.
I know they have been and its going to be a tough choice when the time comes. I lean twards a C5Z because I know I can get away with one that has good mods for around the same price. But on the other had I can get a C6 thats still under warrenty and I get the benefit of all the new features and new body style which I really dig. I still got more time to think and everyone has put in some good advice. Got some more things to think about I guess. Thanks everyone for puting in your input!

Thanks for the comments guys! Yeah a C6 Z06 is out of the question, that differance is just too much. I want my payments in the low to mid 200's. I figure I will have at least 15K (Hopefully more) when I am ready to buy which means I cant finance more than 8K otherwise I could be in the 300's quick even with a 4 year loan. We will see whats available when the time comes. I have seen non-modded Z's go for 18-20K but I would really like to get something with extensive work done. That can save me alot of money in the long run. Lots of variables in the air right now so its just a waiting game for right now to see how things pan out. I can still save the money but things may push the time line back alittle bit.

Hey guys, been awhile since I posted so I figured its time for a update. Still doing fine and dandy in Iraq. After some thought you know that I decided not to get a camaro on my return. I also thought more about what vette I want and I think I know now. I think I will go with a C5 Z06. Around a 02-04, with mods done to it. Looking to see about getting one with at least 450 RWHP or better. Last time I checked the other forum I found a butt load of them that meet that criteria. The hard part now is saving that money and getting the loan for the rest. Which I dont think will be hard at all. I want to keep the price as low as I can while still getting what I want. I figure I should be able to get what I want and walk away paying no more than 25K out the door. While looking at the C5s I found the tiger shark body kit. I would love to get one that has this kit already installed but I can live without it. I still have about 5 months left on my tour and I am sure I will change my mind about 5 more times yet too...lol. Any thoughts, comments, suggestions?

Hey all, I am doing fine. Got another 8 months to go! 1/3 of the way done. Thanksgiving is right around the corner already, wow time goes fast when your busy. It rained here the other day so mud is every where. Sucks too cause its sticky and gets on everything. Looking at Vipers, C6's, and C5 Z06's for my next car when I get back. I think the Viper might be out the window as a few already pointed out that they are not built for DDs. Well, gotta go, I will check back soon!

I understand how you guys feel but kids are going to be sitting in the back, not adults. Also I like how the camaro looks. I know its not everyones cup of tea but its mine. Interesting about the back being weak. I did not know that, something to concider. Thanks!

Ok guys, please no flaming.
Here is the thing, I want to get a 2010 Camaro because its super nice and I love the features and it can seat 4. So there is the big issue, seat 4. Now, I have done some research and found that I can buy a used 05-08 C6 for less then what I plan on spending on the camaro. I already talked to my wife and she is ok with it but perfers the camaro for the seating issue. I know that the corvette is much more bang for the buck to be sure but to have one again would be peachy. I could not believe that I could pick one up so cheap until I seached CF (its still good for something). Found me a 08 in the inferno orange, manual with almost all the goodies for 31K. Thats 7K cheaper than the camaro for a 08 C6! Tell me I dont have a tough choice to make in about 9 months! Now be advised that we plan on another kid (to make 5 kids total). We are good for finances as of now and it appears that we will still be good when I go to make this purchase. So I know this is the wrong place to ask but what would you do? I still have alot of time to think about this and even the camaro is dependant on a few things yet so as time goes by I am going to be toying with this idea. But I still would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks guys and gals!

Thanks guys. I will have a few more chances to post up before I leave. I am looking at the 2010 camaro 2SS RS package, sun roof and some other goodies. Hopeing to have enough money left over to do some extensive mods. Looking to make about 470 RWHP but we will see.

Well guys just finished my training. I will be taking leave soon then off to kuwait where I get more training...Joy joy joy. Then off to Iraq. I will be part of a 11 man team. We will be off the beaten trail and its going to be rough. Thats about all I can tell you. I really wish I could go more in depth but its all about security. Internet is a open source and the bad guys can view this info which is why I cant say much. I can tell you I will be training Iraqi's. Hopefully we will be able to hand over their country back to them soon and we can pull out of Iraq. I can tell you I am looking forward to the tax free $$. That is how I should be able to afford my new camaro. If all goes well I will be placeing the order for it in about 6 months. We will see how things go though. Dont want to put my famiily in a bad situation. As far as leave goes, I only get about a week. It sucks to go through a few months of training with hardly seeing my family then going away for a year. I love them very much and its very hard for me to be away from them. I am on a excellent team who is very experienced. All I can say is I feel bad for anyone who wants to attack us. We will mop the floor with them. I should be on leave mid next week, cant wait. Like allways, I will be checking in here when I can. Thanks for all of your support guys, I really appriciate it. Thanks!

Yep, coming home for the 4 day. At the airport posting this. Too bad I dont fly out till tomorrow morning, I guess I am too cheap for a hotel. Honestly I was trying for a standby seat but they cancelled 2 flights so they were all booked up. But I will be home by noon tomorrow!! I cant wait! Its a surprise to the kids, they are being told they are picking up a freind. cant wait to see their faces when I walk trough the gate!

Figured its been a while but wanted to let you know that I am still here and kicking. In kansas right now doing training for another few weeks. Then I get a short break for vacation. When I do I am going to the poconos with the wife for a little R&R if you know what I mean. So anyway as allways training sucks. Dont get me wrong, we get some good traing but we are treated as polished turds. Our dining facility has got to be the worst in the army. Keeping this short as this is a chat but if you all want to send stuff over let me know and I can leave my address with a few of the mods. We allways like getting gift boxs. I will post from time to time and I do visit often its just that the net here is wireless and very slow.

Thanks guys. I am at school right now getting ready for the big show. They are loading us up with gear! Got brand new everything! The new ruck sacks are awsome, new sleeping bags rock, and the new cold weather system is great! They offer wireless internet for 40 bucks a month, a bit much if you ask me but hey, its the price you pay for technology. Tommy and matt will make great additions to the site I am sure.
