Has anyone completely did away with the ABS block behind the driver's seat? Is it a simple bypass or would I need to re-run the whole brake system lines? I have an 86 coupe. I have no use for it with what I'm doing and the weight savings would be an added bonus.

As far as basic function is concerned, all you should really have to do is figure out the applicable in and out brake lines and hook them together or just run new steel lines throughout that eliminate and bypass it. And that may not be a bad idea, given the age of your car. It sounds as if you're perhaps building a mainly track car?

emulate the 1985 braking system. Simple. You remove the ABS module and save the weight...

Hi Nitrofish86, I'm getting ready to do this to my '87. I've done a little research on this. bogus is right the '85 did not have ABS. So you would think just buy some '85 brake lines and your done. The problem, I can't find any '85 brake lines. So if you find a solution to this please let me know. I have a race at the end of January but as soon as it's over the brake lines and ABS module are coming out. Stay tuned I will have an answer.

Doug.

Check with Vette2vette.com, if anyone has the line, it will be them. It would be used, but that's fine.

You can also use 1984 brake line, too.

Push comes to shove, there is nothing wrong with emulating the 1985 system, and bending your own line. It's not that hard...

one warning, the C4 uses a mushroom flare, so be aware of that when dealing with the various blocks and such

I made a booboo and edited nitro's post!!!

I'm probably gonna just run all new brake lines seeing as I'm gonna try to convert to manual brakes at the same time.

ughhh...this gave me a stomach ache...I'm impressed as hell with your set up, but we have completely opposite suspension needs. Everyone I hang out with is moving away from solid axles. My teammate is trying to install an IRS in his Fox Mustang. Kinda funny.

So I'm guessing by your wheelie thread that that car run's the 1/4 in the single digits? Sweet...

I'm trying to get my ABS to work again, so if any of you guys want to sell your older style ABS stuff once you yank it out please let me know. Mine quit working when I removed the traction control and I've never been able to get it to work since, so I'm going to try installing an older system that never had the ARS.

All I have is the block behind the seat and the lines down in that compartment. The wheel sensors are gone. Let me know if and when you're interested -Charlie
