I have been there for a night launch and it is awesome. To the fullest meaning of that word. We were across the lake from the launch site and the heat and sound where just that... awe some! The sound takes longer to get to you than the light from the ignition and the ground shaking takes a couple seconds longer. I'm glad I got to witness that first hand.
