My solid SMC not plexi top is starting to release from the frame. What do the Guru's suggest as the best/most appropriate adhesive to bond the SMC back to the frame? I only wish to seal it back where it is beginning to release and not remove it and start from scratch if at all possible...

You need panel bonding adhesive. Be aware, it's pricy.

Click on the "restoration shop" here on the left then, search 3m panel bonding adhesive.

Also here:
http://www.tcpglobal.com/autobodydepo ... sives-sealants-foams.aspx

And look at 3m 8227 repair adhesive, it's $35 vs $45 for some of the others.

And a lot of these need an outomix gun to push the stuff out of 2 tubes but you can rig a way to do it at home.

Use a lot of tape, cover everything the this stuff could get on.

There's also 3m Structual Adhesive @ $19.00
I have some and used it to repair the fibrrglass heater ductwork on my C2. But it's white in color and remains slightly flexable.

Interesting ...

... I've never heard of this happening with the solid top, but I guess there's a time for everything. My plexiglass top needed the same kind of help at about 21 years: bugs were flying in the front and splattering against the inside of the rear sail panel.
