In May my son's jeep motor died. We tried several used motors waisting money and time. We bought a lot of parts for the other 4.0 motors. We even built a stroker out of a 4.2 and a 4.0. After the last engine failure while at Autozone I asked what a replacement motor would cost. $1400 so I order one . It arrived in 4 days.
My son called a few minutes ago describing an engine problem. The sound like when you are losing a bearing. I told him to call the store. They had a tech call him on the phone. The tech had him run the engine pulling 1 plug at a time to see if the sound stopped. It did not. The tech called the store and had them order a new motor for my son.

The motor is ordered and he is pulling the other one.

Warrenty 3 years unlimited miles.

Pretty nice deal - the only downside is that it had a problem in the first place! Hope he has better luck with the new one.

I agree with you. You get what you pay for. Well at least I know what I will be doing when my new transmisson gets here. Helping him with the Jeep while he is busy with the new baby.
He is one of those crazy rock climbers and uses the same vehicle for work. So far he has't abused this motor yet. First time it's not his fault.
When I bought my 87 vett he drove it around the block and came back with the clutch smoking.
No braines. Baby due this month. 23 yr old

I remember those good old days.

How does he keep blowing 4.0s? I had one in my jeep and I thought it was bulletproof. Only problem it had was a freeze plug sprung a leak

He is a junk yard nut like I used to be. That is why I bought the Autozone crate engine for him. I have the money to buy new parts now that he and his sister moved out.(life of a single parent)!

The 4.0 is a strong dependable engine I agree. Every time he drops the engine he destroyd the crank position wires. He is ADHD and it is hard to get him to slow down.

It makes no difference what he drives he destroy everything he touches. One day he will have to grow up and buy a Corvette.

I know people like him... can't let them near anything of value or they will destroy it. No sense of compassion for mechanical devices.

All I know is this: When my Jeep 4.0 dies, I am getting a Golan 4.6 stroker. 270hp, 320 lb-ft of torque!!

This morning he is helping a friend move. His friend is giving him some car that needs a cat so it can pass smog.
I think tomorrow we're pulling the motor again.

I am hiding in my classroom today. LOL

I'm surprised he kills them so much. Usually guys that fix them (and pay for them) take more care. Guess he'll grow up eventually.

The other jeep that caught on fire was the same year as this one.His new motor should be in any day. What you see is what he likes . The green things are 4.2 pistons painted green. You got to admit he is having fun. Lol.

I taught him nothing.

Well it is here. Was on hold for some reason yesterday. The other motor had metal shaving in the pan. My crazy son will be up all night putting the motor together. Looks like the transmission on my vett is on hold awhile longer. New warrenty is the same 3 years unlimited warrenty. X my fingers for him that he takes it easy on this one. Lol

At 6:00 we will put the minor thing back on the Jeep and see how this Autozone engine runs. So remember this day and remind me when this one breaks. If it is before 3 years.
LOL

Love my kids
