Durango_Boy Can I borrow a trailing arm bushing tool from anyone?

I don't have the money to send my trailing arms off to really be done right, but I do have to put in new trailing arm bushings to make sure I can keep this car driving straight this Spring.

I have an aversion to buying a tool that I will only use this once and I was wondering if anyone owned one that might let me borrow it.

I will obviously pay shipping both ways, and if here is a rental fee I'll gladly pay that.

PM if possible, thanks.

Sorry DB, unfortunately I don't have one.
Had mine done at a local Vette shop.

I've been planning on building one, it's not that big of a deal.

How much of a hurry are you in?

And did you remove the old bushings yet? I have a few tricks.

I have not removed the trailing arms yet. This project will involve the driver's side trailing arm being removed, as well as a dropped rear end for the spindles to be replaced. I don't want to take anything apart yet until I have all the parts and tools I need to get it done. I worry I may open a bee's nest and miss the Spring's biggest shows if I don't plan it all correctly and do it in the right order.

Well, as Pink Floyd says: Wish you were here?

Here's where I'm at.
It was a boatload of work to get here, damn glad it's done.

Yeah Bill, I wish I was there. Maybe if I had a spare set I would try my hand at doing my won trailing arm rebuilds...I just don't want to take half of the wheels off of my car without something to put right back on. It's missed too much driving time already.

Well, I've been telling anyone who doesn't have a press, a glass bead cabinet and isn't willing to buy or make the specaility tools to have a pro do the arms.

For what they charge, it's worth it. I don't know what Gary's going to charge you for the bearing job but it will be worth the bucks.

Bair's charges $349 per arm to do everything, bushings, bearings (Timkin, btw), all new parking brake parts/shoes,new silver shield and a new rotor (rivited correctly). Basically a new arm ready to bolt in.

I think that's a hell of a price considering that the parts run $180, so $170 in labor is a good deal.
I'll probably be down to $10/hour paying myself to do it.
