josephf31 Positive battery cable?

Is the positive battery cable (for a 1991 L98) unique to the Corvette? I have a supplemental positive cable ending in a ring washer type connector, which, when I place it under the postive terminal, prevents solid contact.

I am pretty sure this has a lot to do with my battery running down and/or the check gauges light always on.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have my amp wired this way without issues. Is that ring terminal long enough that the bolt and battery cable seat flat? I think mine may be on the outside of the terminal. I think this is why I also changed the bolt to a hex.

There are lots of cars out there with side terminals. I'm sure the particular cable and length is corvette specific though with the unique battery position. The starter terminal would also be different than aftermarket stuff.

I don't think the ring terminal is long enough to allow it to seat flat, and I tried it on the outside but it's worse.

I'll proably have to change the 'battery style' screw to a hex bolt and see if that fixes the problem.

Just wanted to check and see if the cable happened to be a special/Corvette only item, thanks all!

I have a ring terminal on mine for my amp as well. I trimmed a small portion of the battery cable insulation from around the ring so that the ring terminal would fit inside and the cable end would sit flush against the battery.

Well I notched the plastic ring around the terminal and replaced the bolt, all is well now. I still have the 'check gauges' light on all the time, but that's a problem for another day LOL
