yes. Mercedes had it on there Cars a few years back. Allowed a clutch to decouple the blower and motor... EASY!

and no parasitic loss.

So that's a no

One of the reasons GM went with a positive displacement blower is that is has less parasitic loss then a centripetal

the other reason is that is starts making boost at idle

the trouble is that they are not really that efficient.

centripetal are more efficient, but don't make boost until they are higher up in RPM (mine starts about 3,000rpm)

a variable ration drive lets you adjust this

FYI the belt is currently off of mine as it wore out.
The car runs perfectly fine w/o it, it's just making less power.
