patsfan05488 Question about my "new to me " tires

I have a quick question about my " new to me " tires and rotating them. I just bought 2 Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals (255/45 17) from a fellow forum member and 2 Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals (265/40 zr 17) from the X-Forum. I have the standard 17x9.5 sawblades that came on my Vette. I was wondering if it mattered weather the 265 we're on the front or the back ? If they should be on the back how do I rotate the tires? I just don't want to hear " dude your rims are on backwards" when I post a pic on here .

Hey Rob, hope you like the tires. :thumbleft:

On my '96, the stock sizes were:
front: 255/45 17
rear: 285/40 17

So, you didn't want to rotate those front to back.

In your case, that 265/40 tire is actually a tad smaller in overall diameter than the 255/45 you got from me.

255/45 17 = approx. 26.04 inches o.d.
265/40 17 = approx. 25.34 inches o.d.

To be honest, I would have wanted to get at least 285/40 for the rears.

If you wanted to rotate the tires, it would be best if they were all 4 the same size.

But that's just my opinion. :thumbleft:

Shoot I thought you had mentioned that you had 265 on the rear . I wonder how weird it would look with 265 on the rear and 255 on the front. I could talk to the seller on the 265 and I'm sure he wouldn't mind if I backed out. Actually I think i'm going to PM him now to find out his take. I appreciate the heads up

By the way I love the tires!! thanks for the quick shipping and great deal
