Josh | 1996 C4, no battery for a month, now no radio? | ||

I'm working on a 1996 Corvette. I drove it into my garage with the stock radio, tape, and CD player all working great. I pulled the battery out of the car for some engine work that I was doing and let car sit with no battery for about 2 months.
Now, the radio will not turn on. When I turn the volume knob clockwise, nothing happens. I can press the volume button in and the clock will illuminate, but the radio, CD, display, etc... are all dead. Is there some kind of theft lock on the radio that may have been activated when I let it sit with no battery for so long? Any other thoughts? |

Sounds like the theft deterrent feature of the radio. Do you know the reset code?
I don't know if the radio is the same for the later C4s and the C5s. If it is, there is an unlock procedure on CF. Maybe it will help?? Sorry if it doesnt, but worth a shot. Otherwise the dealer can unlock it. http://www.corvetteforum.com/techtips ... ?SubTopicID=164&TopicID=1 Matthew |

This happens to me sometimes when the car sits and needs to be jump started.
The logic in the radio gets confused. Disconnect the battery for two minutes and plug it back in. See if that helps first. |
