JonnyAngle Heater core residual problems?

In my 86, the heater core is shot. Would that cause the climate control lights to flicker? The rest of the dash works perfectly.

EDIT: Just took another look and it appears that there are two "pipes" that have red hoses that go through the firewall. Can I just connect those 2 hoses to bypass the heater core? I've never even turned the temperature control on, I always use the 4-65 Air Conditioner. I suppose it would be 2-65 in the Vette. Any reason I wouldn't want to bypass the heater core?

yes, you can bypass the heater core that way.

the controller freaks out on it's own... Dr Dons fixes them - www.doctordons.com, IIRC. they charge about $60.00 to reman them.
