I put my Suzuki on craigslist this morning. Blue book was $1900 and I listed it for $2500 firm.

10 minutes later, I got an email, then a phone call. Bike is now sold. My '05 gas-guzzling F150 on the other hand, took about 12 months to sell, for $4K under blue book, and was the lowest priced one in all the classifieds in California for its mileage.

There are used Ninjas selling for higher than the new MSRP, because there are no new ones left.

I'm seeing way more bikes on the road also, which is good for strength in numbers!

People are really aware and concerned about energy prices.
They will buy anything including something that they overpay for, that will save gas. Counterintuitive.

I recently bought an '81 Goldwing Interstate, as diesel fuel was killin me. I paid $2600 for the Wing, and was paying around $100 a week for diesel for my Mercedes work car, just to drive to work and back 5 days a week.
The Wing gets close to 40mpg. It'll pay for itself before the end of riding season for me.
I see a lot more scoots on the road around here these days, too...

There are points of return, tho.

IT's also why we haven't bought an economy car. The cost of the car does not absorb the cost of the fuel.

I have heard critics and such say we are about running out of oil... they have been saying it for the last 40 years. I would believe them if they had any idea how much was there in the first place.

I just want a bike. I could care less about the gas mileage issue. I miss riding terribly.

Maybe soon, I can get back on two. Maybe... I can't afford to make a stupid decision right now though. Just gotta hang on for a few weeks/months and see where my life is headed.

I sure do wish somebody made a 650cc supermotard that wasn't overly finicky about valve adjustments and such.

The Suxuki DR-Z400SM is a neat bike, but too small.

The Ducati Hypermotard is just the thing, but costs as much as some new cars...

But I love sportbikes too. Always had a soft spot for the Honda CBR929 in Erion livery.

My favorite bike of all time (except for parts and maintenance costs)
The Ducati 996

And the bike I feel would be the most practical one for me to actually spend money on. The Honda VFR 800

I could go on and on... Mmmmm, bikes...

Honda does a pretty good job of copying the ducatis and refining them. That interceptor is a beautiful bike.

There's always be an excuse not to get one. You can get a decent used liter bike for $3K, or under $2K if you get something old. I guess I was tired of waiting on other people/events to make my decisions. I want a $100K zr1 but I'm driving around in a $6K C4.

There are lots of broke and in debt people out there that are living it up, even if just for a short while.

I refuse to incur motorcycle debt. Shoot, I don't even want to have car debt. And I wouldn't, except my wife and kids deserve a fairly new, and reliable vehicle. Or so I have rationalized...

When I have 100% in cash, then I will start shopping. Gotta see if I have a job first though.
