Merle at EM talked me into these pricey split locking header bolts. They are twelve pt heads. I can get a socket on a couple of these, but for the most part I can't get anything on them to tighten them down.
Is there any special wrenches for 12 pt fasteners that I don't know about?

Has anyone here used this type of header bolt?

A 12 point box end wrench may get on the ones that you can't get a socket on. I use SS allen head bolts. Cheap, they don't rust and they stay tight. I don't have any use for, nor do I see the need for these fancy-assed, over-priced, PITA bolts.

Box end wrench is too thick to get in between the fastener and the runner tube on the header.

I have at least three sets of other header bolts, and they all seem to be easier to deal with than these.

I'll probably put these back in the package and eBay them. I already ran a few of them in and out of the heads so, they are not brand new and I doubt if Merle would take them back at this point.

I had same problem removing header bolts couldn't get wrench on them so i took an old 12 point wrench of the right size and started grinding out one side ended up with a home made off set open end wrench but o well got on tricky bolts real good and did the job. Those are some fancy looking bolts by the way :tongue1:
