Question about chips

I decided to to rewire the vette this week got the painless injector harness. When I removed the ECM I noticed it had been previously opened most likely by the last butcher who owned her. The chip inside is totally foreign to me. It is a Klaric 400-310 as best as i can figure the part number is 88y-a4-307 other numbers on it are level III F6DB M-W. I have tried searching for info on it but am coming up at a loss. If any of you Gurus out there have any info on this chip such as timing requirements and special sensor requirements I would be greatly appreciative of the assist. Keep on keepen on. Jimmy

It is pretty much all stock had a bit lumpier of a cam tossed in it when she was apart a sides from that all I did was restore what was already there and had the block and heads machined, changed the paint scheme as well.

Laid down the paint, did a mock assembly, now waiting for the warm weather to slip her back in the car, should be a fun summer.

It's the old man asking about it, as close to factory as possible. Previous owner did some "upgrades" and rerouted pretty much all the wiring, brake lines and fuel lines. We have the motor and trans out at the moment so perfect time to set things right under there mostly need wiring diagrams and chassis schematics. I have the Chilton seems to be as useful as Chilton manuals usually are

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the offer to measure. That will help! Do you have angle plug heads?

If any one else has info on these headers i'd appreciate it..

-- Joe
yeah i have angled plugs one thing i found when tearing motor down recently was that these headers were a right pain to get out I'm thinking of returning to ram horn style when i put the engine back in.

I have read that these older c4's are prone to insulation deterioration so I started digging round and yep my wiring is NFG. I was surfing around to see if anybody carries a complete harness for my 88 but to no avail. If any one can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Figure just replacing complete harness would be easier than chasing and soldering.

However, considering the way that Japanese automakers have succeeded without unions... food for thought, eh?

Honda has never had a shutdown at the Marysville, OH plant, except for the normal seasonal ones. No layoffs... nada... what good is $22.00 and hour when you don't have a job to go do?

I agree that unions at one time did do a lot of good for the labour force on both sides of the boarder. My grandfather was UAW back in the hay days of the 60's...my father was part of the power workers and police unions here in Ontario and my best friend is a member of the Iron Workers 721 out of Toronto. The thing about it is this tho....the unions them selfs have become big business more so about profit than members rights...Being from the Oshawa area I have seen a lot of good people be put out of work by the CAW. Mackie automotive for example. Workers there were getting a decent wage and benefit package then a group of people in there thought it would be a good idea to bring in the CAW within a year wages climbed from 16$ per hour (for sorting parts) to 21$ per hour. The Mackie family could no longer compete and had to close the doors boom 500+ workers now unemployed. Unions are a good thing but from time to time they do need to be reined in. Not to mention the fact that the big three didn't keep up with their market research. They were still making gas guzzling SUV's and the likes while the import company s such as Honda were building ecnoboxes I know our vette (while it was running) only got out on weekends our primary vehicle is a 2002 VW, and we are a G.M. family all of us from Oshawa.

Not to seem like a union basher but we have a name for the UAW branch up here the CAW (Canadian Auto Workers) or as any non union trucker delivering into one of their plants call it Cry And Whine. I'm sorry but no one deserves 22$ per hour + to pound weather stripping onto a flange....skilled workers yes line monkeys no...just my 2 cents

If you are running a paper fuel filter check it and replace it any amount of water in gas even a drop will not pass through element and will not let enough fuel to pass to feed that hungry engine just a thought

I also have a habit of clowing around too much... wearing Hawiian shirts and listening to Jimmy Buffett a bit too much too.
