I want a 23 t-bucket. I looked at a couple and drove one and I am hooked. I can't decide if I would be better off building one or buying one that is done or one that needs work etc. Thoughts ??

If you're handy enough, build. At least some or all of it. It'll be a lot more satisfying. Also, although a bit more work, original T metal is still available very reasonably. What can I say, I'm a traditional rod kinda guy. I'm currently working on a Model A Tudor, vintage style rod w/ Mopar flathead power, etc. My only "concession" will likely be a T5 tranny for that all important OD high gear. I plan to drive this car, as I do the Vette. No garage queens in my inventory, now or ever.

I am thinking building one is the only way to go, it will cost more but at least when it's done it's exactly how I want it. I would do a fiberglass body with an opening door, the ones you have to jump in and out of are a little goofy. Some sort of unusual powerplant for certain, maybe a nailhead buick ? I gotta do my homework on these things.

Nailheads are awesome. They're a bit pricey to build but not nearly so bad as a vintage 50s Hemi or something of that nature. And both vintage and many new goodies are available for them. A while back a friend of mine expressed interest in a T rod. I found him a steel roadster in Ga. that was not far from being a finished driver for under $7K. The deals are out there right now. It's a buyers market. Check out Fordbarn.com for a current cross-section of pricing and availability of cars, parts, projects and finished cars, both original and hot rods.
