Hi all, anyone going to Corvettes at Carlisle this weekend?

I have never been (heck just bought my first Vette this year) and was thinking of going on Saturday, to look around, maybe pick up some parts etc.

Do they have like a "flea market" or are all of the vendors "commercial"?

Was wondering if anyone here was planning on going, or has been, and any tips or advice on what not to miss, not to bother with, parking, etc.

Thanks all!

Joe (NJ)

OK, first off, if you have never been.... you must attend. Period. No and.. ifs..or buts

Let me see... is there a flea market? Good God, is there a flea market. There are all kinds of vendors there. This includes people like you or I that have enough junk to rent a space and sell it. You will find anything and everything you could possibly want related to Corvettes at this event. both commercial vendors like MidAmerica and Corvette Central and small time guys that are just selling used parts or books.

I won't be attending this year as my car is still on the stands and I need to get it finished and running by the Ocean City Maryland Corvette Weekend. That is a bigger event for our club to participate.

Hopefully you can hook up with at least one other Corvette wingnut like us and walk around the fair grounds until you die of exhaution or heat stroke, whichever occurs first.

Whatever you do, don't stay home. this is a right of passage for east coast Vette owners.

I hope you have a good time.
I'll see you there next year for sure.

My dad and I are going next year. He may be moving to virginia for his job until retirement so it would be a state closer. Regardless, he said he would like to attend. I hope to have the shit box in top order by then. If not, it will still be cool to attend and see all the vettes. :D

...with some people who actually sell C4 stuff, too. We'll be there all day Saturday; walking the aisles, doing a shift at the NCRS Gallery, talking to folks, taking pictures.

I'll probably go Sunday so I can win the giveaway car. Take plenty of water and snacks, dress light, wear comfortable shoes and take a camera with fresh batteries. Some people bring wagons to haul stuff around on, I usually have a backpack. If you have not been to the Carlisle web site yet Google it and go there for plenty of information and schedules. Have fun!

John, you passed me on the way home from Carlisle. I was in my truck, so that's why you wouldn't have recognized me.

This year I thought sucked.
Though I didn't look, somebody told me that Mid America didn't even show up.

C4 parts(used) were hard to come by and the new stuff is overpriced, even with show discounts.

I missed last year and if things stay they way they are headed, I probably won't attend next year.

My whole crew that used to go, doesn't go anymore and that's what made it fun, hanging with the people back at the hotel.

On a good note, I did run into some old friends.

Jim Dawes with his awesome 99 coupe, Jim Stafford(Iceburgh) at the Meguiars tent. Jim Cummings,(85vet) and Jim DeForrest(YngAgain).
Also ran into Patrick from Digital Corvettes who I think may have won the burnout contest, but practically destroyed the car in the process. Burnout lasted 7.5 minutes from what I was told.

I had friends that bought stuff there from MidAmerica, I think it was Corvette Central that blew it off this year. They sent a letter to the clubs and customers saying that they had a problem with the state tax folks and wouldn't be there due to the policy or something to that effect.

I didn't make it, but friends of mine that went liked it, but most of them own C1, C2 or C6s ... go figure.
C4 is the red-headed step child for sure!

I went on Sunday and attendence definitely was down but everyone I talked to was having a good time. I thought the weather was pretty nice this year too. Let's not bury the show yet for the sake of those that have never been. I'd like to believe that once the economy stabilizes it will get better. Even if you're not buying anything it's a good place to look at and photograph disassembled pieces and parts without or before taking your car apart.
