I have the speedo'tach surround out (painting it. I thought while I have that out , I have a problem with the oil pressure gauge. Sometimes the number fades. Want to clean the contacts,It looks like its 2 screws to remove, is there something I'm missing. How does it come out

A bad LCD contact should be an on/off thing and only effect certain digits, words, or parts of digits. Dim makes me think it's a bad bulb, which would dim the entire part of the cluster, or perhaps a burned LCD pane.

To clean LCD contacts you need to remove the rear circuit board carefully (it's held in with screws and also by the pins from the front board.) Then you can pull the front board, and you'll find some pink rubbery strips, that connect to the LCD panes. These tend to stick to the boards or panes, but are really just held in place by force. You can carefully remove them from the board and clean the contact surfaces.
