With one of these? (or one like it)
My stepbrother has an extra one that he'll let me try out. With the unit plugged into the house outlet, you don't need a hardwired phone to the house. Internet uplink goes through the cell phone at 600Kbs (I saw his linkspeed), and the service is about $20 less than bundled hardwired phone service. Any CG's here tried it? |

I don't get it.
So you don't have a phone bill? Or internet bill or what? I just use my cell phone at home and pay seperately for high speed internet and have wireless there. |

Providing that your not using land line services, it provides a wireless bridge between your cell phone and the conventional phone system in your home. You can use all the services that are your cell plus dock and charge your cell while your home.
With a bluetooth interface to your cell looks like its about two hunert dollars. |

Correct. With this docker, you do not use the land lines. You do not get a bill for land line service either. Internet is done through the cell phone. If a call does come in, your internet connection is deferred to the call. I think that's what JRC is sayin'. But about the B/T interface there JRC... if you don't have B/T, you use a hardwire to connect your cell phone directly to your computer. And I think he said it DOES charge through the computer. |

Yeah it's using a wireless or hardwire connection to the cell. It even allows access to the special features of the cell like voice cmd dialing etc. But the internet feature may be touchy with your carrier. Most don't give free data traffic. One of my clients is being charged $40/mo for data services from AT&T. In some areas in the hills, a cell is the only means of getting on the web. |

I like my desktop attached to the 1 gig router at 1 gig. Means the data rate off the 1 gig Buffalo is quite fast.
