LT1Marc | Long Tube Headers? | ||

Hello from Iraq! I ordered a Golen 383 LT1 motor a few months ago, and its now ready and being shipped to Germany to be installed in my 1993 LT1 A4. I currently have the stock exhaust manifold on it along with a flowmaster exhaust system. I was hesistant to getting long tube headers because of the noise restrictions in Germany (90dbm at idle) and have seen some soldiers not pass inspection because of it. Do any members here have any insight to using long tube headers, and with what system to get the increased flow, but not the noise, or how LT headers would sound with my flowmasters? and finally, I've read that shorty headers dont make much of a difference and have seen dyno sheets on the corvette forum to back that up..any opinions on those with the 383? Thanks!

Marc,
My Hooker super comp long tubes did not seem to increase my noise levels. Inside the car, they decreased a wee bit. I am running a true dual system on my l-98 and the headers took some of the harsh, raspy sound away. |

long tubes shouldn't affect noise levels, as long as you have decent mufflers, you should be fine
