hello Everyone,
I finally got my C4 here after it spent time in a shop in Germany. I put a Golen 383 stroker LT1. The car is a 93 with automatic transmission, headers, cats, etc. Golen put a ported and polished LT1 intake as well. 58mm throttle body, 30 Lb injectors, new wires, plugs etc, and a dynaspark distributor.
so here is the problem..me and a friend did a tune on it on some small backroads in Austria, and it has amazing acceleration...what I would expect from a 383 with 440 HP.
so I left his place and drove home to Germany,
the car performs very very well at low RPMs, just like when we tested it...butI did not predict what happens on the autobahn since we did not take it to an open road.....it will go to 6000RPM in third gear (automatic) but the top speed is only 220 KM(about 136 MPH). If I shift it to 4th (overdrive) at high speed (above 200KM/H) it switches between 4th and 3rd and still does not go faster than 225KM/Hr. When the car was stock, I could take it up to 162 MPH at only 5500 RPM.
I drove to Prague monday and had to drive over some rough roads....and the ASR needs service light and Service Engine Soon light came on for 10 minutes..but never again...I think the rough road might have shaken the car's ECM and made this happen..but now no problems. The car still accelrates very fast like when we tested it, but it has no top end..do you have any suggestions?

I really need to get mty car running before Le Mans..it hasnt run since 2006 (mainly because I went to Iraq for 16 months) please help.

now that I have gone over everything,
I have a late model (94-96) LT1 engine stroked to 383 from Golen Engine Services. My car is a 1993 LT1 A4. So the fuel rails do not line up perfectly from a 93 to the intake of a 94-96.
I will pay top dollar for a set of 94-96 fuel rails..I do not want to go back to the old manifold from my 93 as Golen sold me a ported and polished 94-96 LT1 manifold matched to my heads. If anyone has a set email me at marc.macaspac@gmail.com
thanks!
Marc

Trey,
thanks for the info. You made me just realize that the engine I bought from Golen came from an F-body..the entire time I thought he sent me a corvette LT-1 engine..same with the ported/polished intake I bought from him...I guess Ill put that on E-bay and install my corvette LT-1 intake on the engine...there should be no issues with that, correct? (as in a 93 LT1 intake on a 94-96 F body LT-1 engine)?
thanks again

I have a 1993 LT1 coupe. I ordered an engine from Golen Engine service, which ended up being a 94-96 LT1 engine.
The fuel rails from my 93 do not connect properly to the 94-96 intake, and a 93 corvette connects the fuel rails on the passenger side, while the fuel rails from a 94-96 connect to the fuel lines from the driver side.

has anyone installed a 94-96 engine on a 93 LT1 using the original fuel rails..or did you replace them with the newer style ones..and if so how did you make it connect from the drivers side if it was designed for the passenger side? thanks!

Andy and friends,
I bought a 2002 Z06 (via the corvette forum with the help of a friend) to enjoy something when I get back, as my 93 LT1 is still in the shop. The engine will be removed by the time we get home, and quite possibly the transmission...I figure this is a good time to replace the wire harness if necessary. Can you or anybody in C4 Guru Land direct me as to where I can get a new wiring harness for a 1993 LT1 with 700R4 transmission? I saw an aftermarket one for 781 dollars and was hoping for something not quite as steep, like the stock GM harness...thanks!

hello Andy,
after getting out a meeter, we discovered the following...I had a bad ECM that I got off ebay from a forum member...hopefully I can send it in for a rebuild...so after putting back the old ecm...which in the end wasnt the problem..the following weird things would happen....
while having power applied...after sitting for several minutes..the headlights would shudder..and the AC would come on..without any commanded inputs.

Upon further tracing with the wiring diagram, it was discovered that we would get a code 42 and that the throttle body was NOT receiving any power even with the engine started, as well as the air codidtion low pressure sensor giving an indication. we traced this to the wiring harness being probably pinched when the automatic transmission was installed..so the tranny probably needs to be pulled and the wire harness inspected.
I am returning to Iraq today...we were supposed to be home now but the powers that be decided that a tour of duty is no longer one year..but 15 months..Ill get back to her in November...in the meantime..any idea how I can get that wire harness..or do I just trace the wire and try to fix it?

hello everyone,
got a short break from Iraq and want to drive my car for a few days...same old problem that I didnt get to address from last year before leaving....
had a new 700R4 installed and when the shop took her out for a test drive...she would fire up, but then not go above 2000RPM.
Upon inspection it was determined that the voltage coming from the MAP and throttle body was zero.Changed the ECM and problem is still there. Any ideas?

Long Tube Headers?

Hello from Iraq! I ordered a Golen 383 LT1 motor a few months ago, and its now ready and being shipped to Germany to be installed in my 1993 LT1 A4. I currently have the stock exhaust manifold on it along with a flowmaster exhaust system. I was hesistant to getting long tube headers because of the noise restrictions in Germany (90dbm at idle) and have seen some soldiers not pass inspection because of it. Do any members here have any insight to using long tube headers, and with what system to get the increased flow, but not the noise, or how LT headers would sound with my flowmasters? and finally, I've read that shorty headers dont make much of a difference and have seen dyno sheets on the corvette forum to back that up..any opinions on those with the 383? Thanks!

hello everyone from Germany!
I am dealing with some issues with my 700R4 (non-electronic) on my 1993 LT1. I've decided to have PeteK from the corvetteforum build up a 1990 700R4 for me. The 1993 had two transmissions that year, a 700R4 and an electronic 4le60...I have the 700R4. That particular 700R4, for the 93 model only, had a unique valve body and wire harness. Pete will have my 90 tranny equipped with a single wire so that lockup only occurs in 4th (OD) gear. Sounds great to me. I have already emailed him with this question..but I will take all opinions as to....
could someone explain what lockup is to me and how this change in lockup will affect my 93. Any other insights to the mysteries of the A4's would be appreciated...I was used to a TH350 with a stall converter on my C3 before I became a C4 owner..so its a little confusing to me. Thanks for your help!

Marc
