I got this in an email blast from Road & Track.

It's a great read and excellent insight on the C5 generation.

That is so true......for us older guys we remember from the early 60's to the early 70's when Corvettes ruled..... then something awful happened.....from 75 to the last few years of the C4.....Corvettes had no power.....yet they continued to sell..... in 1979 they produced over 50,000 cars that year in St. Louis. It's still a production record. By todays standards those cars were real rough coming off the line. I know I owned one. But who cares it was a Corvette......

In my opinion the C5 did turn it all around and in large part that was due to the LS1 engine. I love those LS engines. The mighty little small block is alive and kicking ass as the almost seemingly effortless horsepower numbers are crazy compared to the old small blocks...... My C6 is fast and good looking and I can drive 700 miles a day in it and not be destroyed...... what is not to love........
