Nobody feels worse about this than I. After all I did over there, my thanks was a kick in the ass.

When I was a Mod, we never paid attention(to my knowledge) to other sites and their comments about CF. The attitude at CF was, so what? They are there we are here and it should be the same here.

Let them do whatever they want over there and we do what we want here.

I'm still a member there and I will attend the Cruise In, mainly because I'm one of the few that have gone to all of them.

But this year, if I donate to St Judes, it will be on my own and not through CF. I only registered for two events at Cruise In and I'm not staying at the host hotel either. I have my own activities planned for the week.

I consider this my new home and CF the occasional vacation spot now.

It's also great to post here without any pressure.

When do you need a head count? Where do you start from? I have a house in LBI, would it be better to start from there or Bergen County?
Probably around the first week of June I'll be finished up planning.

Hmm, Bergen County or LBI, both ends of the state! LBI would be best for you to end at, but for the start, that's a tough one since it's an early start.
We do have people coming from Little Egg Harbor and I believe they either take the AC expressway or Route 40 west to meet up with us in DE.

I'm in

Any problem with me inviting a couple other Vette Buddies from around here?
Not a problem at all. I'll just need a head count for the restaurant.

Where exactly is Severn?

There are a few places along the way that you could probably meet up with us.

Hi Frank,

Severn is just about half way between Annapolis and Baltimore. I am realy centraly located to the Baltimore/Annapolis/DC area and have quick access to I95, Rt.50 or any of the major arteries.
Cool, you have a couple choices.

I can't say how many years I've been following his work. He used to be in all the magazines when I was a lot younger. Then he kind of fizzled out or soemthing. Then one day I saw an ol' 55 shoebox that he built and what a nice car it was. I told the owner he probably paid too much, but he didn't care because Boyd built it.

I used to watch American Hot Rod when I could remember it was on. I was just thinking about that show the other day.

I use the Jack-A-Vette which is the same thing as the Gadgetman device, or I place a 2 x 8 under the spare tire and jack from there,

Part of it is tradition. Besides NJ doesn't have all you can eat the same way. The Old Mill Crab House serves the food hot, not like buffet's that serve cold.

And yes, the ride there is the whole point. Nice twisty backroads with no traffic or cops.

For Jersey people it's a pretty long day, figure on 6:00am to midnight , but that doesn't include breakfast or time to get to the first meet point in Jackson.

For people north of NJ, I recommend staying at the Hampton Inn in Penns Landing(I think or it may be Pennsville) the night before. It's just north of the Del Mem Br and about 5 minutes from the meet point in New Castle,DE.

PA and DE people will have the most sleep.

Frank, you've always IMO, been one of the few level headed and resonable mods over there. You've dinged one or 2 of my posts over there before and always had the courtesy not to belittle me and on one occasion, even sent me a pm

These clowns they have now have no interperson skills. Wanna be badasses, nobody's with a bat...on a power trip...get my drift?

Certain of them (you know who I mean I suspect) have thoroughly dissapointed me. It's a shame because thier power tripping and leg humping, has cost them what was once true friends
I know what and who you mean.

I'm just sorry I couldn't catch up with you while I was in FLA.

Well folks, it's that time.

This years date is 6/14/08 Saturday.

We will pretty much do what we always do except I need to find a better meet point for the start.

What it is:

We will meet somewhere in New Castle,DE. Follow DE Route 9 south to Dover. From there we will travel down Route 1 to Rehoboth where we will do some go kart racing.

Then we take De Route 24 west towards Laurel and head south on Route 13 to Delmar, DE/MD.

We pig out on all you can eat crabs, shrimp and chicken.

Jersey folks will then head back to Lewes,DE to take the Cape May/Lewes Ferry back to Jersey.

This was going to be an invitation only but after thinking about it, I'm not going to do that since the folks I don't want to attend won't be over here anyway. I know I may sound as if I'm full of myself, but I really just want to keep a lot of the CF folks out of this one(except those of you that are here).

This means it will be a much smaller group, but then at least we can spend more time socializing rather than just trying to keep up on teh road.

I will post more details as the date gets closer.

Hey Smack! Yeah, I got canned from CF. I'm still a member but no longer a moderator. They did it while I was at work, so when I came home, it was done and I couldn't go back in to Mods Corner to give them a piece of my mind.

It comes down to a few different things.

One. The Northeast Crew was giving me a hard time for doing my job.

Two. The Admins were giving me a hard time for doin my job(doesn't make sense)

Three. All my buddies got banned and were here anyway.

I signed up hera at the beginning, but I didn't start posting until early January.

CF is slowly sinking and for once I'm glad I have nothing to do with it.

As a moderator, I was actually a prisoner. Now I'm free!

I'm over here as well, as far as trans stuff, I was trying to get a trans tech section over there for years. They wouldn't go for it.

It's amazing how many PM's I get over there still asking me to do stuff when I can't anymore.

The second shoe is about to fall. Ps New Jersey has the highest property tax in the nation. Theres no room to make money there, the state takes it all.

My taxes have nearly doubled in the past three years. I only pay township taxes for property though, the state takes their share of income tax though.

Yeah, the same as Drano.
Use Zaino and the water runs off even quicker.

I've asked a few professional detailers about Zaino and most of them never heard of it, others have never used it.

One of those CF anomalies I guess!
Sal Zaino was around long before CF was even thought of. He was a custom painter in the NY area. He did a lot of Corvettes. Not sure when he broke into the polish business, but he's doing well with hardly any advertising.

I remember my point now. It was, don't worry about it, if you like the house live in it, don't sell it and do what you want to it.
But obviously, putting a $100,000 kitchen in it and then trying to sell the house 6 months later doesn't make sense.
I've seen people both with cars and houses pour so much money into it and then complain when they lose money.

You guys are smoking crack.

This is suburban San Diego. A 15 yr mortgage is NOT an option.

I was considering adding on to the house because I actually like living here, not for investment reasons.

Seems like people's decisions in real estate revolve around making money. That's not me. I want to do what I want with the money I have, and use the leftovers wisely, which was my reasoning for this post. I'm not tryin to get rich quick. Never had/wanted any money before, I don't see any reason to start now.
That's how I feel about cars. Too many people out there worry about resale value. If you never sell, you never have to worry.
As for my house. My dad bought in 1975 for $33,000. Over the years the value of the house went up to about $125,000 when we decided I'd buy the house. Being as lazy as I am, it took a couple more years before we actually did it. We based the sale on $125,000 even though other house in my neighborhood were selling for $250,000 and higher.
Currently, my neighborhood has sales over $300,000 and higher and most people are just buying the house for the lot.
1/4 lot is going for $200,000, then add on $289,000 for demo of the old house and builing the new. These people are paying almost $500,000 for a house they can sell for $375,000.
But the people aren't going anywhere, they are staying put. In my town, it has become Little Israel. Thousands of folks are moving here from New York after coming here from Israel and other places.
My coworkers and friends wonder why I want to live in a Jewish neighborhood. I tell them that I was here first, house is paid for(for the most part), I drive 3 miles to work, why would I want to leave?
If I sell my house for $350,000, where am I going to move. The county north of me is more expensive in taxes and real estate and my own county is rising. For me to sell my house and move to a comparable house in another town, I'd be paying more for a house and higher taxes and tolls to get to work not to mention the further distance to work.
I'm staying put until I retire(7 more years) and then I'll worry about what I'm going to do.
I had a point here and not sure if I made it.

I have a 0% loan on my house. I'm paying my mom cash for it and it was a hell of a deal as well.
Currently my fiancee and I are renting her house, but after her lease is up, we will be buying it and letting my dad stay in my house.
My neighborhood is going up in value, but teh landlord couldn't sell her house to anyone because of a few issues, but those issues are being taken care of thanks to me.

As far as buying more than one house, I have several coworkers who own 5 or more houses and rent them out.

Currently in NJ, a 3 bedroom/2 bath house rents for $1800-2000 a month.
These guys bought houses way back and did what redwing did.

After we buy this house, I'm still keeping mine and will probably rent it out when my dad no longer needs to live there.

I'm also going to start looking for Real Estate in Delaware where a little money goes a long way, maybe I can finally buy and keep enough land to build my own go kart track.

You can get a tool that goes in the jack so you can lift it by the diff between the exhaust pipes, but id be reluctant to use that as a lift point.
That's the Jack-A-Vette, I have one and it works well.
For the front I use a regular ol floorjack after I drive up on 2 x 10's and then place the jackstands where the swaybar is attached to the frame.

For the rear, I use the Jack-A-Vette and place the jackstads either at the point marked "jacking point" or on teh rear part of teh frame where the bumper attaches.

Not fond of them because they won't sell in bulk. Mainly the detailing spray. With Adams I can get it in gallon jugs. Plus I get a nice discount from Adams.
You are correct, they don't sell in bulk, but then again, their supply comes in as the little bottles you buy(ask me how I know). There is only one retail store I know of and it is 4 miles from my house, but I also happen to be friends with Sal and the Crusher, so I can get it anytime I want.
Also we give away about 12 "starter" kits each year at the Corvette challenge, all you have to do is show up and be the fastest loser and the kit is yours free!

I have heard great things about Zaino. I will probably give it a shot this spring. Knowing me, I'll splurge for the whole bag of tricks. Although, currently, I have great luck with Turtle wax "Ice". The synthetic stuff just seems to pop alot more than "wax". IMHO. But, the best thing I ever used is some stuff in can called "Liquid Glass". The name doesn't lie. Trouble is to get it to last I have to do about three coats with about 4hrs to cure between coats. The can has a picture of a '67 vert on it so it has to be good, right?
Talking with Sal, he doesn't like Liquid Glass or Turtle Wax(Of course since it is competition) and he gives reasons why.

Remember Zaino is not wax, it's polish and it works well and easy to apply.

I've tried Meguiars, and matter of fact, I use it on my truck since I couldn't buy Zaino off the shelf(I was in FLA).
You don't need the whole bag of tricks for Zaino. If you call Zaino direct, tell him I sent you and they can hook you up with what's necessary to get you started.

Zaino is some good stuff if you know what you are doing. Everyone talks about how expensive it is, but most don't realize that a little goes a long way.
I forget what the shelf life is, but I had a bottle of Z2 that lasted almost 5 years. Sal told me to dump it since he felt it was too old. I got lucky and won some new stuff at one of the Corvette Challenges, so now I have a fresh supply.

I am going to share with you a few of the things I have learned in 59 years of life.

Don't borrow the money. Put it aside a little at a time and soon you will have it. You will sleep better at night.

Wifey may not like it but unless your kitchen is a total disaster, she will accept it.

There are many, many good contractors. It only takes one bad one to totally ruin your day.

The only monthly payment you should ever make is your mortage. A car payment is also acceptable, but only one per family. Your second car should be paid for. Carrying a credit card balance is a bad plan.

Lessons learned the hard way.
I learned the hard way also. That's why today I only have one car payment, no mortgage and quite a sum of money put away for retirement. Am I rich? Not by a long shot, but I've gotten smarter with my money over the years and put myself on a budget that actually works. When my insurance bill comes in, I have the cash to pay it, when my Daytona and Dover tickets come in for renewal, I have the cash to pay for it. I plan on retiring in seven years, it will be at a 20% reduction in my pension, but I won't need the extra money that over a lifetime will only add up to $40,000.

I don't watch Football anymore, there aren't any cars involved.

But I'm happy with the score since my fiancee won $600 in her office pool.

9 years for my '95 and 7 for the '93.

The longest of any car I had was my '68 Dodge, had it for 19 years.

I have Corsas on both cars and at one time muff elims on the '95(twice) and a stock system in the backyard.

Here's the run down:

1995 stock-1995 muff elims- 1995 Corsa- muff elims(new ones)-1995 Corsa(new)

1993 stock-1993 stock(off someone's '95)-1993 Corsa

I should have bought the B&B Tri Flo when I had the chance($400 slightly used).
