I tried it, and other than the mixing, didn't find it hard to use. But I have not had good luck with it on my black car - it seemed to get cloudy after a day or two. Probably something I did wrong, but I moved on to anther brand. I do like their leather and tire products, though.

Zaino is some good stuff if you know what you are doing. Everyone talks about how expensive it is, but most don't realize that a little goes a long way.
I forget what the shelf life is, but I had a bottle of Z2 that lasted almost 5 years. Sal told me to dump it since he felt it was too old. I got lucky and won some new stuff at one of the Corvette Challenges, so now I have a fresh supply.

I have heard great things about Zaino. I will probably give it a shot this spring. Knowing me, I'll splurge for the whole bag of tricks. Although, currently, I have great luck with Turtle wax "Ice". The synthetic stuff just seems to pop alot more than "wax". IMHO. But, the best thing I ever used is some stuff in can called "Liquid Glass". The name doesn't lie. Trouble is to get it to last I have to do about three coats with about 4hrs to cure between coats. The can has a picture of a '67 vert on it so it has to be good, right?

Draino? Looking for the bare fibreglass look?

I don't like or dislike Zaino... however, it is better for new paint than older paint.

Because of that, I prefer using Maguires.

I bought some Zaino and waxed mine about a week ago. It really looks nice. It was not hard to use at all. I mixed it up and put 2 coats of it on the car. Car has a very nice shine to it.

Not fond of them because they won't sell in bulk. Mainly the detailing spray. With Adams I can get it in gallon jugs. Plus I get a nice discount from Adams.

Talking with Sal, he doesn't like Liquid Glass or Turtle Wax(Of course since it is competition) and he gives reasons why.

Remember Zaino is not wax, it's polish and it works well and easy to apply.

I've tried Meguiars, and matter of fact, I use it on my truck since I couldn't buy Zaino off the shelf(I was in FLA).
You don't need the whole bag of tricks for Zaino. If you call Zaino direct, tell him I sent you and they can hook you up with what's necessary to get you started.

You are correct, they don't sell in bulk, but then again, their supply comes in as the little bottles you buy(ask me how I know). There is only one retail store I know of and it is 4 miles from my house, but I also happen to be friends with Sal and the Crusher, so I can get it anytime I want.
Also we give away about 12 "starter" kits each year at the Corvette challenge, all you have to do is show up and be the fastest loser and the kit is yours free!

I've asked a few professional detailers about Zaino and most of them never heard of it, others have never used it.

One of those CF anomalies I guess!

Me too. But I often lack the energy anymore to accomplish it all at the same time. As long as it's a ten-footer or so, it looks great flying by at speed. And that's good enough for me......

Sal Zaino was around long before CF was even thought of. He was a custom painter in the NY area. He did a lot of Corvettes. Not sure when he broke into the polish business, but he's doing well with hardly any advertising.

Is it pronounced like Drain-O? I've never heard anybody say it....

Me, I just hose my Vette off, and drive like hell! I always get water spots on the arse end though. Perhaps I am not driving fast enough.

I have a chamois somewhere. That's probably passé nowadays.

Yeah, the same as Drano.
Use Zaino and the water runs off even quicker.

I use 3M finishing glaze with a black foam low cut 3M wheel and a Makita polisher. Then hand finish with the Liquid Glass. Two coats of LG last over a year. Nice, hard, finish and the paint really pops.

IMO, Liquid Glass is fantastic.

I thought liquid glass sucked. It was way too abrasive and left scuff marks in the paint that I had to polish out later with something finer. I wouldn't recommend it on black paint.

I know opinions vary but I have used Meguiers on my last 2 vets and swear by it. The Z gets nothing but compliments on the paint all the time. I guess if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

Hmm.... it's not an abrasive, it's a polish.

Had one of the forum guys over this week to help me out, he asked when I got the paint wet sanded.

Did you use it with a wheel? Which one? You know different wheels have different cut values. The 3M black pad is the smallest cut. The problem may be in the wheel, not the Liquid Glass.

Liquid Glass contains no abrasives. I apply it in thin coats with a damp soft sponge and finish with microfiber towel. When I finished the first time, the shine was clear that the only colors I saw were the reflection of the everything around it. But this is just my experience. But with all the hype, i really want to give Zaino a shot.
