Not sure if you can get the good stuff over there? My engine will only see the "Mann Filter W936/5". About double the size and triple the filtering, or better.
I have over 100k on a stock engine and used all that standard stuff, Delco, Fram, Purolator etc.. I used to change oil and less than 100 miles later the same black oil color like before.
The last 40k only Mann filters for me. Now it takes over 1k for the oil to even turn darker. It's not even black when I take it out, 10W40 Valvoline cheap stuff.
You'll see an instant difference and with the 2nd filter the oil just stays clean!

First I had my doubts because John Deere equipment uses the same filters. Now I just know, expensive farm equipment with a price tag of a couple of Vettes is probably worth protecting with the best.

Here's a test someone did on the filter, mine is larger and black, though.
Purolator/Mann comparison

Since it's heat related and shuts down when reaching operating temp and works again after some cool down time, it could be a short in one of the injectors, measure resistance when hot.
ICM sounds better, though. Worst case ECM.

At least my 91 bone stock has a separate switch, part # 25036935 with 1 blade.
Here the applications:

It's a 3 blade sensor Delco part# 10201491.

Wheel bearings tend to make a hammering sound and it's get better or worse during cornering.
My 7 year old Good Year's made noise like a worn out wheel bearing, what a difference with the Kumhos. You might just lost a weight and need a tire rebalanced.

I do like this approach, simple and easy to remember (Pirates of the Caribbean)

If you didn't get the multimeter yet, it's obviously a good idea to spend $10.- for a cheap one. Test all the fuses and go from there.
Just the other day I had an ECM I couldn't collect data from. Weird part, the computer connected but no data, go figure the fuse was blown. The engine would turn over strongly but no fuel.

I am glad you found the culprit, but you are still reading the code wrong. Code 15 is "low temp indicated", the ECM was getting a cold signal and flooding the engine as it got hot. The fan upon start up indicated the ECM going into limp home mode.

If you want to learn how your sensors work, do an ohm-check, you'll see a higher than normal resistance. Resistance values you'll find in your FSM.

Best and easiest way is to delete the VATS request in the eprom. If it's for stock automatics, no problem, got all files on hand.
For 86-92 I read the eprom data first hand directly of the chips myself.
For 86-89 I even got spare memcals, 89 is currently on the road though. A switch could be made on an exchange basis.

@Bill, if you got a tuning chip with a carrier, I could just burn a stock chip send it to you and you could do the swap for the time being. The tuning chip than could be adjusted to delete the VATS.

I case you don't have an aftermarket chip, the eprom would have to be soldered off the memcal or an adapter would have to be used.

A friend in NM is coming over to Germany Feb 21st and staying for a week. He could take the memcal along, that would make things saver if need be?

Tires that size are usually directional. Make sure they put them on correctly, should be some arrows on the side.

oh, I am home alone

Me first, me first. That's an easy one.

That's the blower motor control module, which you can find in the A/C blower motor box. Disconnect one of the 2 plugs on top and the blower should stop.

I would ohm check the coolant temp sensor, may have infinite resistance. Sounds like it could be flooding your engine. Do you get a really bad fuel odor when the car is running?
It should set a code, but hey, strange things can happen.

Well, being a hands on guy and not so much into technical theory, more spark advance gives you more low end torque and less SA gives you more horsepower to get higher top-speed. Testing Ground ---> AUTOBAHN

Todays LT1s most selling factor and probably then, too, the people love to say, "I got 300HP". Maybe a reason for the factory low timing?....looks so good in the sales brochures

just my 2 cents

Welcome, Solomon. A great website you got there, I set a bookmark as well, thanks. I was hoping the DIY tuning would pick up a little on this great website.

If you don't have a second carpet under the pedal, yes open up the throttle blade a little, to get the voltage to match the programming.

You shouldn't jump into open loop! That just happens when the sensor gets to cold. The BLM and INT get locked at 128 while in WOT, that's probably what you mean?

Quote:
What would be the best driving style to do the scan?

The first one was OK to figure out if you got knock retard.
Another one should be like on your way to work, just regular driving with a more steady throttle.

Quote:
One more thing what is INT?

INT is the integrator or in other words the short-term fuel values. You look at both, but eventually the long-term follows the short-term to get to 128.

I don't like the way the TPS is adjusted, strange values.
You get 4V even at WOT, should be a little higher in the 4,3-4,4V range. The 0,53V at idle only applies to the adjustable TPS 84-89. The later ECMs do have a learning capability worked into the programming to set 0% TPS.

The IAC steps at idle should also be in the 20-30 step range, with the engine at operating temps. If you open up the throttle blade a bit manually with the adjuster-screw, you might just get both right, TPS and IAC.
With the blades more opened you probably get better response and better gas mileage as well.

What's the deal with the IAT temps? Is the sensor up front in the duct? If it's in the plenum it's reading way to cold.

Other than that, I like the limited amount of knock retard.

Your driving is a little wild, though. BLM and INT values are all over the place. A more steady right foot would help to get a better idea.

You say the bolts are sheared, are you talking about the top threaded part of the shock? I really can't picture it in my head.

Well, the shock is bolted to a metal plate and that plate with the shock in it is bolted to the frame with 2 bolts.

The only thing I can come up with, drill it out. Once the plate is loose, you might be able to get a grip on the bolt.
With all the heat from the drilling it might pop loose real easy?

Unless you got some serious mods, 5500 is just fine. Actually you should be able to feel that the engine is running out of air at an even earlier stage.
If you want to change the shift points, try the transmission governor that is located behind the black cap at the rear of the transmission. It works with different weights.
Never ever touch the TV valve cable, only one correct setting!!!

Sounds like fuel injectors. Measure the resistance cold and hot, should be about 16-17 ohms.

edit: when it happens unplug the EST wire, if it runs better on the ignition module it could be the pickup coil or ECM.

Hi Glen,
don't want to offend you, but that's why I don't buy anything from Ecklers, they don't know their own stuff.

The first number is the oil pressure switch, which is the switch for the fuel pump circuit as well.
The second "48052" is the oil pressure sender, which is for your gauges. Not as important but tripple the price.

I like the Delco stuff, most of my senors if not any are still the first set, like they came from the factory. Even the oxygen sensor is still doing great work.
I would go with Superior Chevy in KS., great pricing, fast shipping and friendly service. There you'll get Delco and not what Ecklers think would make a good OEM replacement .
I bought most of my back up sensors at Ebay though. I buy cheap whenever original Delco parts pop up well below retail.

Probably a good idea to remove the C-beam. A bit of advice, remove the windshield wiper motor, very fragile piece. You wouldn't be the first to replace it after an engine pull.

Notorious was right on, and we do have an oil-level sensor.

On the picture you can see the oil-pressure sensor horizontal and the oil-pressure switch vertical in the tee.

The sensor you are looking for on the rhs is called "cooling fan temperatur sensor". It's a back up sensor/switch in case of overheating as far as I know.

edit: here's the link for Ecklers
