The main difference between myself and Fuddle is I never tried to sell converters. They needed to sell them to eat. I sold them based on request. They were a forum sponsor, and I was not, so I respected them.
I was lucky. I stumbed upon an anal retentave, small, family owned shop that built converters. Every time they built me a performance converter, their peckers got hard. They enjoyed doing them that much. I sold a few based on inquities, and it spread through word of mouth.
I guess what I am trying to say is there is no such thing as a PeteK converter. Only a PeteK box with someone else's converter. Everyone who bought one knew this.
If I had to buy one other than my guy's, it would be a converter from Andre at Edge.
To my knowledge, no one had been unhappy with a converter I sold them. I have sold 3 converters to guys who pulled out their Fuddle to install mine.

Pete, my biggest mistake was to order from Fuddle and not you. At that time Fuddle had Christmas sale and their price was really good, and I was in not so good financial situation (with tranny rebuild) so I had to look out for every $. Their TC looked like quality unit for good price. I'm not 100% sure but I think full price was $590 and with sale I've got it for $490.
So I went with their TC over what you offered to save ~$50.
What a mistake to make!

Don't get me wrong. So far, converter acts really good. It's not loose when cruising and when driving hard it puts smile on my face. It would be dishonest from me to tell that TC is junk.
But "Fuddle Racing" company and it's owner are different story.

I have received TC and I have installed it. So far it performs good.
At cruising arround it feels almost as stock and when driving hard it
performs much better.
However, stall is arround 2400-2500, not 2800 as I ordered.
That may be because I ordered TC for 500HP engine that I plan to build in
future, and I'm at ~370 now.

But if it was the best TC in the whole world, if it was "the only" TC I'd
rather keep stock one then go through dealing with Fuddle again.

Please do extensive search on LS1 forum and LS1tech forum and you'll find
that I'm not the only one who thinks that owner of "Fuddle racing" is a liar,
and I'm certainly not the only one who had bad experience with them.
Unfortunately, I found that out when I started to dig, when "Fuddle" stopped
responding to my e-mails and phone calls.

Have you heard anything bad about these guys? I have read some good reports on thier stuff over at Cz28. I was planning on giving them a try.

My experience with Fuddle

You have to be registered to CF to be able to read this.

When you do the ducting, purchase or fabricate a plate that forces the air directly into the center of the rotor and does not just blow air onto it. Otherwise you won't get much effect. You want the air to blow into the center and be dispersed through the rotor vanes, not just blow on the inside surface of the disk.

I was thinking of install like in the pic below. If I understood you right, you
think that better cooling effect would be to bring air from direction
marked with arrow?

Here is what I have ordered for cooling ducts:

Rotors arent' going to matter much. Stick with a brand you trust and you'll be fine. Powerslot is a good brand, but they're probably pricey.

You don't need cooling ducts for the street. Add them if you like, but it's only a placebo. You may need them on the track some day, but not for awhile...once you get your brakes functioning correctly you'll be fine.

Problem is that I don't have much choice here in Croatia so I have to order from US. And if I order something that's not good then it really
gets pricey.

As for ducts, I have allready started to convert car for track use since I
really rarely use it on the street. I don't mind driving track car on the
street but vice versa isn't good for me.

I'm pleased with mt C5 brakes, but I dont break hard from 120 to zero.

I do bring it down from 120 to 35 or so at the track .

I haven't tested brakes on track yet, but I'm trying to get the car ready
for track days mostly. But from how it looks now, I don't think that I could
make 2 hard laps and still have brakes.

What about MC? Are you all using stock PBR unit?
I ask because mine is ready for replacment!

The pads are likely your problem. You didn't state what kind you're using but try some Hawks and bed them in properly.
Yes, I have C5 brakes and used the bias spring. And I indeed found them to be an improvement over the J55s that came on my '95.

I'll probably order new rotors and pads in near future.
I've seen that everybody speaks good about Hawk pads, but what
kind of rotors are recomended?

Also I'll be adding some cooling ducts soon. That should help too.

I would say those are my brackets, but they are not stamped with PNWZR1 and I haven't sold any to Europe.

One thing you may want to take a look at is the metal tangs that fit in the abutment bracket, depending upon the rotor they may rub. Take the tang out and grind on it with a bench grinder some to get some more clearance.

Also check the clearance between the edge of the diameter of the rotor and the tang as well. If it does not fit flush against the abutment bracket, it will hang down and grind on the edge of the rotor.

I'm not sure if you made brackets but I bought those 2 years ago from
Ed Salinas. I believe he was CF member also.

Anyway, I took a closer look and it does look like there is scratching mark on rotor edge,
so maybe you're right about metal tangs rubbing on rotor.
Thanks.

It's been a while since I installed front C5 brakes but I can't say that I'm
very satisfied. Problem is that after 1-2 hard breakings from ~120 to
stop breakes get overheated and start to scratch on something and start
shaking. If I let them cool down then it gets back to normal.
Everything that I installed is new. Original C5 Z06 calipers and pads and
I bought Durastop rotors (slotted/drilled).
I know that rotors are probably junk but anyway I think that brakes should
be better. I can't say that there is much improvement over stock 12"
front brakes that I had.
I still didn't install brake bias spring and I hope that it will improve things.

Now, I have a few questions;
1. Are you staisfied with your C5 brakes?
2. Do you have bias spring installed?
3. Is there any kind of aftermarket master cylinder available that is better that stock
unit and can be installed with not too many mods necessary?

Here are a few pics of my install.

I bought new alternator but it's 140 amps instead of 105 stock.
Should I upgrade wire to the battery and how thick wire should I use?

I have recently rebuilt/upgraded my trans with all the parts that Pete suggested. Even more, he was kind enough to gather all of the parts for me and then send it all to me. Parts were somewhere in $900 range plus
$500 for converter.
I also went with full manual Trans-Go shift kit option and it's totally different car to drive.

Alternator was $170. I bought pigtail separately for $10.

This is where I got it from:

I hope that I have finally solved my problems with alternator.
I have rebuilt my stock unit x times but it just kept failing.
I guess that stock alt doesn't like high revs, because it allways broke
when I reved engine past 6k rpm.

Anyway, I bought CS-144 140 Amp alternator. I did some search and
it looks like everybody agree that it's much better unit than stock CS-130.

Maybe I could've played with larger alt pulley but I hope that this will be
longer lasting solution.

Do you use nitro base thinner?

What do you guys use for Al cleaning? I'm mostly interested into cleaning
Al cylinder heads.
I usually use some sort of degreaser but it allways takes 2-3 times to get
everything clean and even then it's not the way I'd like it to be.

JMO, but it would be great to have "Members rides" subforum where members could introduce their car and mods that they have done to it.

I have very similar (you can say that it's very common and proven) setup, except I have ported #113 heads and Hooker headers.

You'll love it.

I heve been registered to this site since 2005. but I never posted since there wasn't much activity here before.
Some of you probably know me from CF as I use same nick there.

It looks like a lot of good guys come here and to DC lately, rather than to CF. I'm looking forward to see this site grow, and I'll try to contribute in any way I can.
