You know what really urkes me.... How much time is spent in this country trying to prevent prejudice and thinking how much ground we have covered since the sixties and yet we still have to deal with affirmative action and the news today saying things like Ohbamais picking up most of the black vote and Hillary is getting the white female vote. No shit. What is wrong with this picture?

..and to top it all off, the stock market tanked today with more rumours of a recession

.....don't mind me, I just need a beer.....

I just got two new jacks from
Harbor Freight for Christmas.
They are made for cars such
as our Vettes. They have two
supports that go on each side
of the tire and lift the car that
way. You can't "cheat" then,
you have to put stands under
the car to get the wheels off.
I would include a link but I
can't find them on the HF
website. If anyone is interested
I can take some pics of mine.

http://search.harborfreight.com/cpise ... ame=&requestedPage=10

How high will they go?

Talk about busting chops! You bust mine and then go on to say it was a good suggestion and even facilitate it. I think I saw this thread in the dictionary under hypocrisy! Some people just can't pass up an opportunity to take a cheap shot, even if they agree with the thought. :banghead]

New engine or rebuilt? About the only thing I can think of that would cause that would be the obvious stuff:
1) the bearing was improperly set or improperly sized
2) oil starvation
3) lack ck of cam lube on start

Anyone else?

Second, if you replaced your timing chain but it was installed incorrectly in some way, would it not destroy itself on start up or would it take awhile to break?

Even though CFI was doin' that, He was right. Auto 101 is probably a good idea. Take a look at BoxWrench.net Its an engine building site for the (mostly)novice to the expert and might help you understand things a little more. Its a forum setup like this site, They are trying to sell a "how to" companion book. I guess thats how they support the site.

I'll get a chance to get a look at it and the Vette. A couple of guys from work are going to the Phila Car Show on Feb 6.

Anyone else going from the area? The majority of you folks are from the left side of the country correct? ( no offense intended, just an observation)

Its around 20 after 11 here in eastern Pennsylvania a and its still 25 degrees. Wish Casey could share some of that southern hemisphere heat!I'm about 4 cups into this day and need to get moving. The South Jersey and southeastern Pa guys from that other forum are meeting for lunch at one of the member's pizza joints in Nj. Its supposed to be a" Take your Wife to lunch" thing but I can't get Patti to budge out of the Warm robe sitting next to the fireplace. Might have to go myself unless I get guilted into helping with the house work.....I really need to do the c5 brake conversion. I have all of the parts.....the garage is effin' cold though.

Have a great day folks

Please add the year of your car to your profile.

I've got fully chambered catbacks on my 92, no resonator, no mufflers.
They're loud enough that I short shift going past the local law enforcement. They don't seem all that loud at idle. At cruse speeds in 6th, there's no resonance in the cab and they're not loud enough to bother you on a long trip.
If I ever get another C4, I'll put this system on it, too.
Got em at Corvette Central

Thanks bill, Kinda what I was hoping to hear.....I have a 94 a4. I have been looking into either powersticks or that cat-back system you have. Sweet Thunder has one for $470 and $30 for shipping that I could do myself, or, If I go the Powerstick route, I'll have them installed where the resonator is and get the exhaust shop to fab some muffler elims. Probably cost the same when all is said and done anyway. The only advantages to buying the complete system that I can see are the "H" pipe and the fact that I can save the stock system intact for later if I ever decide to sell.

I'm sure everyone is tired of exhaust threads, but , I searched Chambered Exhaust and came up empty.

Like just about everyone else, I'am looking for something free flowing that has a nice deeeeep tone at idle and I thought about this:

sweet thunder

Anyone run these..........any sound bytes around?

Hey Dan! How are ya?

How's your new combo working? what stall?

I dont think I have to change the gear for the speedo....On the 94 its all done by reprogramming. I'll need to p/u a hypertech unit or get tunercat I guess. Case the Corvetteman hangs out here too he's helped out a bunch of guys with this situation, mabey he'll send me a tune too if I ask real nicely

Thank you very much for the replies (and link Vis). I did notice the large through holes cfi, I guess I have to deal with at least that. I'll feel my way through it. I'd still like to try it w/o dropping the entire assembly, but good points have been made for both schools of thought. If its too tight under the car, I'll drop it.

Thanks very much for the great replies. Sean at the Vette shop in Warminser has the rear right now. As soon as I get it back I'll give this a try.

Looking forward to Spring!

Hi folks,
I'm hoping for some more detailed responses here than I got over on the CF. I have a 94 a4 with 2.59 dana 36. I bought a second pumpkin and I'm having some 3.54 s installed in it. I figured I could probably do the swap, but I've never been under the car. It would seem that I should just be able to remove the the six bolts on the 3 u joints attached to the unit, and the bolts that make the seal to the batwing (10 on a d36 correct?) The one response I got over on the cf spoke about a c-beam. would it really need to be removed to do this? I can use a wrench, just never got under the vet and want to know what i'm in for. Anyone have a pic series? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.
Alan
