Found this on the Centerforce FAQ

The Patented Centerforce Clutch System Does Not Require Using A Special Type Of Flywheel. Our Friction Materials Are Designed To Be Used With The Stock Flywheel, Aftermarket Steel Billet Flywheels, Or Aluminum Flywheels With Steel Insert Heat Shields. However Centerforce Does Not Recommend The Use Of Aluminum Flywheels For Street Use. If You Are Replacing Your Stock O.E.M. Flywheel, Be Sure That The New Flywheel Meets The Same Specifications, Such As Ring Gear Tooth Count, Flywheel Thickness, Ring Gear Offset, Etc. All Centerforce Flywheels Are Designed To Meet Standard O.E.M. Specifications, And Are S.F.I. Approved.

The only thing is knowing that the ZF6 is a fairly different beast when clutches are concerned I figured I'd still await response here or call centerforce tomorrow

A CF dual friction wont work with my Spec FW?

Only reason I ask is I am doing this on a fairly tight budget and picked up the FW for $150, and there is a dual friction that was used for all of 10 hours for sale over on satan's forum

WOW Josh, that is some fantastic info!

Right now I'm making right around 330 WHP, after the clutch I want to eventually get around to heads, cam, EWP, few others, so I'm looking for something to hold around 400 WHP to be on the safe side.

I've been debating on Spec stage 2, vs Centerforce DF, vs, Carolina Clutch stage 2. Trying to find what has more horror stories heh.

I had no idea carquest had the cast parts, I was just planning on ordering through ROckAuto, but thanks SO much for the useful hydraulic info. I have a feeling it will make life a ton easier down the road not having to replace them again.. and again.. heh.

I've driven a B&M and a Hurst car, I liked the Hurst a bit better, B&M was super short which I liked, but the shift effort was a bit too high for traffic cruising to me.

Glad to get another opinion on the fluid, I'm starting to think I'm gonna use GM.

Thanks again soo much man. That's why I love ya'll here

Been a while since an update (work has been painfully slow)

Just ordered my Hurst shifter from ZRChris. One more piece of the puzzle on it's way.

Now to decide on a sexy knob.

Can't even get one passed my Guru's haha.

I'm having a mental debate about the transmission. I'm really leaning tword a TH400, as it's the only one I can think of that's a 3 speed and can handle the power.

Car will see some light street cruises so I don't want to run a glide, a 4 speed auto would be awesome but I have no idea on one that would take the punishment.

Pete?? lol

Got a deal on an LQ9 that can't be passed. So iron block FTW!

I'm happier this way anyway in case something decides to put a window in my block

Still a little ways a way, but after my clutch (FINALLY) gets finished on the vette, I'm gonna start playing with my other toy.

Just to give a small, teeny hint...

It will by my other toy...

Mixed with the star of the show..

Details and build pics to come...

eventually.

Vetron speaks the truth for sure.

I'm a CCW holder for the last 7 years, carry every day. My job brings me to many many questionable places.

I've taught some CCW courses as well as personal and home firearm defense.

I've been around handguns my entire life, and still went through instruction before choosing to carry.

PLEASE don't think I'm being an ass by saying this, but 70% of people I've met who want a CCW, have no reason to need one , and 90% I would not trust with a firearm.

Also, on the note vetron brought up on choosing a weapon, my primary carry piece is a Kel Tec P3AT, and to most I HIGHLY recommend the P32 over it due to excessive muzzle flip, and that's being a large guy with a few hundred thousand rounds under my belt.

When clothing is conducive I ditch the pocket carry and go with a Para Nighthawg. Those are the only 2 out of my 20+ handguns that I will carry concealed.

No experience with them, only with MT's and Nitto's.

MT hook better, but Nitto are more friendly on the street. No report on the toyo's yet.

I want a Z very very badly. a 95 Dark Purple is the only thing I would trade my LT4 for.

Getting the larger parts for an LT5 can be a trick, and will cost you a fortune and a half. A good wrench could handle most things, but a lot of ZR1 owners prefer to do their own work.for internal engine stuff, a LT5 specialist is your best bet.

LT5 from 93+ rocked 405HP, and was a pretty conservative number, so yes, a big bore, appropriately modded LT or L98 can out power a stock LT5 or LS1.

I will never buy them again.

I would like to try the okoles (sp?) that some people have mentioned as far as a simple cover goes.

Matthew

I agree with the fit where the velcro wraps, and I've had a tiny stitching issue on the bottom bolster where I slide in and out, no pulling or tearing, more of a bit of a fray that was touched up with black magic marker to where it was not noticeable at all.

The wrinkles I was worried about as well, took about 6 months for them all to completely disappear.

The wet okole covers look like they are made well, but just don't look as good as iggee, and the price is pretty damn close to ordering replacement vinyl instead of a slip on cover. That and I imagine neoprene would make me sweat a WHOLE lot more heh

my foam isn't awesome, but I threw a set of iggee covers on them a couple years ago. Look awesome, match the interior better, and holding up well.

One of these years I'll have them re-done with new foam, but with all the other things I want to do, seats are WAY down the road, and the iggee's are perfect for the meantime

We've had this crap in FL as mandatory for all stations for about a year now.

Note, Ethanol is an octane booster, so they use cheaper fuels and the ethanol raises the octane to appropriate levels.

It eats seals, has on much of my power equipment.

Anything carburated runs like ass on it.

I've gotten a 3MPG drop in all my vehicles.

Back to back dyno proven drop of 8-10HP.

Along with it absorbing moisture, eating fiberglass tanks, and all the other hell it brings.

Also, it is added at the tank most of the time, making it very loosely regulated. People have tested gas right out of the pump that was supposed to have a "Maximum 10% ethanol" and found it to range between 4% and almost 60%.

I would like it if they would at LEAST make premium un-screwed with. All my vehicles would have it.

When i was doing injectors and had to convert RWHP to FWHP for calculating the correct size, I always used a 20% loss for automatic, and a 15% loss for manual.

It has never failed, is it exact.. no way, but it's pretty damn close for the correct parasitic loss numbers lol.

I'm relatively young (27) And I have friends in the 18-23 age group that make me feel like I should be in a nursing home.

Vetron, that's EXACTLY it, the student's are now taught to take a test... why? Because the aggregated scores of the students reflect on the school, and the teachers.

Who gives a rats ass if they have any real skills or critical thinking when they leave our fine public institutions, as long as they passed the test.

I listen to all music (little Hank Sr. right now), LOVE technology, and strive to learn everything I can about any subject I can ... hell I spent 2 hours the other night reading about the sport of cup stacking out of boredom.

In about 20 years, this country is BONED when these people start running our company's, and our country. It's already begun with people in my generation, the next few are a lot worse.

P.S: I dropped out of high school to take care of the family when my mother was laid off.

Can't help you much with the LCD, Rich. As far as the A/C, what wasn't working? It didn't turn on at all, or it was only blowing through the defrost? Did you do the self diagnostics on the head unit? I also recall on the 96 MY there was a different a/c controller that used rubber nipples instead of plastic that tend to collapse under vacuum. Something to look into.

Matthew

Compressor wasn't engaging. I do fear the rubber nipples.... that sounded naughty.

I can recommend the SPEC Stage 2. I used one in Nolands car (96 383LT4 420+RWHP) and he has almost 20K miles on it now. It's holding up fine and you wouldn't know it from a stock clutch to drive in traffic. He has the same SPEC SM steel FW as you... if you have any cam at all the ZF is going to rattle.

I've thankfully never had to fool with replacing a slave yet, so I don't which replacements are the best.

I run Castrol TWS 10W60 in my 92 and Noland runs the GM Pennzoil Synchromesh in his 96... Both work fine but I've seen the reports of cars that don't like TWS. I don't know what to tell you.

I have the Hurst in my 92 and when we built Nolands 96 I talked him in to a Hurst as well. Great shifter.

Glad to see your getting better. I know about not driving your car. Between traveling for work and bad weather my 92 has been sitting for over a month.
Will

GREAT info Will, glad to hear a recommendation for the Spec stage 2, no cam yet, all that shall come after maintenance heh..

Shocked you haven't had to mess with a slave.

Good to hear about your hand, Rich.

I have about 15k mi, 3+ years on TWS.

Smoother shifts when I put it in but (obviously) it replaced old oil, so I can't compare to GM.

I don't think it makes much of a difference either way.
There's too much hype on the web.

With both reports here on TWS, I'm wondering if there is a difference between Black and Blue tags and them agreeing with the TWS fluid.

Thanks a ton for the info, and all the well wishes guys!

Got my hand almost back to 100% now. So I washed and drove the vette today for the first time in 4 months.

Observations... my LCD lettering seems faded, not the backlight, the numbers themselves... odd.

A/C didn't work, till 10 minutes into the drive when it started working heh..

And the clutch did not repair itself. SO.. I'm gonna keep a running log of my adventures in repair now that I can drive my baby again.

I need some opinions along the way, and I know this forum has plenty

Already have the FW, picked up a used for 2k miles SM Spec Steel for a song on the devil forum from a fella who converted to manual, hated it, and was switching back haha.

SO, I need.. clutch and PP, hydraulics, fluids (that's gonna get heated) , Hurst short throw, new knob, shift boot.

For the clutch I'm leaning to the Spec Stage 2, opinions appreciated.

For the hydraulics, I'm thinking about the Dorman parts from Rockauto, as they all look to be cast.

Fluids, I'm thinking GM from all my reading, as the TWS has some people complaining.

Sticking with the Hurst shifter, as I've driven a B&M vette and it was very notchy.

Gonna be a pretty slow project because of $$$ issues from Doc bills and not working for 3 months, probably gonna scrape together a part or 2 a week.

Fire away Gurus!!!

Beautiful points on it. I like a lot

This is my new one... which the damn UPS guy still isn't here with haha..

http://www.mcdermottcue.com/m72a.php

I went McDermott for their warranty and maintenance. Lifetime warranty against everything including warping, and maintenance twice a year including new Everest tip, cleaning, re-wrapping if needed etc, all you have to pay is the return shipping ($27) for the life of the cue.

Bill: I would LOVE to have gotten to watch Masconi play, that must have been cool.

I have gone through phases... When I was in college, I used to shoot a lot and was fairly good.

Then again in the mid-90s, I started shooting with a group on Friday nights... It was one sport that I was almost competent at!

I have an old Mucci original.

Good stuff, probably worth some cash. I'm waiting on my McDermott now heh.

95vette.. Beer is never optional.

I've been thinking of joining the APA league around here, but really don't think I'm good enough. I mainly just play with friends.

I ask, because I love the game, and to celebrate getting my hand back, I ordered myself a new cue.. (which should be here any minute... damn UPS guy heh)

Was wondering if any of my fellow guru's enjoy cue sports?
